One of the most interesting pins I've ever seen was worn by a district officer of Alpha Phi. She had every dangle that she was entitled to wear, and had them each placed individually on the links of the chain, instead of having them "droop". When I complimented her, she said that she wears her pin almost daily, and people always comment favorably over it!

I have never ordered 1/10th of the dangles that I can wear, but lately, I've been wanting to do so. I hadn't heard that there was a 150th dangle available to Alpha Delta Pis (and Phi Mus, too, I would assume!), but that just firms my resolve!

Is it tradition in many sororities/chapters to only wear the dangles of the last office you held? My mom is a ZTA and when she wears her badge, she only wears her VP, new member educator, and panhellenic VP dangles, because she held all 3 of those offices simultaneously her last year active. She says she has other dangles, but it was tradition to only wear the last ones. Just wondering

For us, most people wear all the dangles for all the offices they have held. we don't have a tradition to wear ones when you were an active in college because we have dangles for when you are an alumnae too.

Our 150th is a "150" centered in a quatrefoil shape (like our badge)

Well, not for SAI. I know of many sisters who wear every guard/dangle they are entitled to wear, including all offices they've held.

This is a little off topic, but does anyone know where to purchase a chapter guard? I wanted one in college, but it was too expensive for me then.

In my chapter people wore as many dangles as positions they had.

Peaches-n-Cream,

You can get a chapter guard from Legacy/Masters Of Design (www.mastersofdesign.com) or from most online greek stores. Some Greek Stores may carry them, too....

Doesn't it seem that wearing dangles and chapter guards is somewhat of a chapter-specific practice?

After wearing all my collegiate officer dangles for years, I finally took them off. I guess I got tired of explaining what they were to other alumnae! (And as they say, "nothing withers faster than a laurel rested upon.") I still have the chapter guard attached, since I like to distinguish my chapter at alumnae and fraternity functions. I've seen alumnae have chapter guards made into charm bracelet charms, which is cute!

I have held offices, but I like the badge to be the center of attention. IMO, it's the badge that should be the focus, not my accomplishments.

I do know sisters that have worn dangles. But, most have only worn one so that it doesn't look too "busy".

AFAIK, Alpha Gam has dangles only for collegiate offices (the standard-issue variety in the jeweler's catalog) and a dangle for International Council officers. Charms are issued for some special occasions.

The dangles and chapter-letter guard are removed when an alumna receives one of the Honors of Epsilon Pi. (About which I will begin a new thread...stay tuned.)
