List all the Dangles

OK, I am curious about dangles. Which ones do y'all wear. I saw some ridiculous ones here. Anyone want a sportswear chair dangle? In the shape of a t-shirt?

I know Pi Phi has specific ones that they sell for us, but there aren't very many.

Oh--and for chapters that do a scholarship dangle, what is the requirement for it?

The only dangle I wear is a "100" to mark our centennial. I've seen some people wear dangles for every office they've held, though. IMHO, having all that takes away from the beauty of our badge.

I have one of those 100 dangles too! :D My province officer bought everyone in the province one at convention...well there were only like 5 of us. :)

I don't mind several guards/dangles. All I currently have is the one for our chapter, but I would like to get the ones for the offices I've held (VP Membership for 2 years, and I was also Secretary for a year).

Have you noticed that a lot of those dangles are actually symbols for the NPC sororities? Some are probably fraternity symbols too, but I didn't look at all of them that closely and I don't recognize all the fraternity symbols like I do the sororities.

I don't have any dangles. I ordered a chapter guard, but once I got it I decided I didn't like it...For some reason I like the simplicity of just our badge without all kinds of stuff on/around it. If I did order dangles, it would be a boatload, though.

On my badge I have the following dangles:

Formal Recruitment Chair
Recruitment Vice President
Pride Leader
Panhellenic Council Officer
Diamond Sister (Big Sister)
Scholarship Pearl (3.5 and higher)
District Leadership Conference (attended)
Alumnae Association President
150th Anniversary

I was looking over our website for all of the dangles available to ADPi and found website manager! So add that one to the list too!!

On my badge I have

Colonizing Member

Director of Social Awareness

I forgot I also have a Convention dangle, since I was a chapter delegate to our national convention this summer. :D

I have President, Recording Secretary, Activities, Intramurals, and an "1874" dangle which represents our Foundation fundraising group. If a collegiate donates $18.74 (the year we were founded) to the Foundation, then we get that dangle. I think it's pretty cool, it's unique.

Let's see what all is hanging off of my guard:

-Scholarship Chair
-Diamond Sister
-Webmaster
-Scholarship (3.5 or up)
-150 years

I still need to buy:
-Recruitment Information Manager

In addition under my pin I usually wear:
-jewel degree pin (alumnae ceremony of adpi)
-Order of Omega pin

and I have other pins but I usually don't wear more than that at once...

As far as I know, Tri Delta has no dangles. I don't know anyone who has one...I'm not sure if we can have any. I only know about using the Trident as a guard or a chapter guard.

Any other Deltas know differently?

OleMissGlitter 02-04-2004 03:29 PM

We don't use dangles on our badge because our founders felt our badge and the meaning could stand alone. However, we do sell the charms for bracelet and I have the following:
Big Sis Charm--which is two hearts overlapping
Alumna Charm--Which is an anchor charm
Advisor Leadership Charm--which is a wing
Committee Member Charm--which is a dagger
Sisterhood Charm--which is a solid heart
Web Master Leadership Charm--which is a little world with WWW on it

AOII Charms

I love the way other sororities put dangles by their badges. It is very pretty.

I'm pretty sure you're right -- I don't know anybody who has any either.

I *LIKE* this idea of a charm bracelet for "dangles". Over the last 10 or so conventions, Phi Mu has had charms as the Carnation Banquet table favor, so I have a nice convention charm bracelet.

Phi Mu has dangles. Frankly, I have seen some badges with so many dangles that I wonder how the sister stands upright :)! (traditional to keep all the dangles for everything you have ever served etc on the badge)

I have dangles for all my officer positions (and there are many) from my collegiate and alum positions. I only wear however my "150" (for 150 years) now.

Our scholarship lamp of knowledge is given by nations for 4.0 GPA's.

On my badge, I wear:
Colonizing Member
Lamp of Knowledge
Director of E-Communications
