These neighbors must be violating some housing codes. I hope that your alderman friend can help you.

Regarding the family - check your city laws to see if they have anything about getting the family or property declared a nuisance. Or if the yard is filthy, etc check the laws to see if the city can give them a citation that it needs to be cleaned up.
ditto. i interned for my city's health dept, and there were laws against having more than one vehicle that is not working, and then possibly the fire dept about the amount of people allowed in the house.

I would definitely call the city to complain about all the crap in their yard. We once parked a small trailer on a small strip of grass at our house, and the damn neighbor who thinks her yard is a putting green called the city and we had to pay an expensive ticket.

(I would like to note that this neighbor is also outside picking the leaves that fall on her lawn BY HAND each morning.)

In some municipalities, if drugs are being trafficked, then instant eviction takes place...

How evil do you want to be?

What you ought to do is get a "restraining order" on the woman because she threatened you with assault.

Then call the tow truck to tow the RV out of there.

Sue the bitch in small claims for obstructing your "view" from your house with an unsightly eyesore and unreasonable maintenance of the property... Or sue the landlord/owner for unreasonable caretaking of the property. Even the threat of a lawsuit might make folks shape up for a bit... Which buys you the time you need to write an expose and give it to the local media outlets... Then post that chit with full on pictures on these outlets...

Talk to other residents in your neighborhood and see how they feel regarding the situation. If there is more than say 3-5 persons that are upset, then you all outta notify your council representative and law enforcement officials by writing a formal complaint against this resident.

Then do searches on all the residents over the age of 18 to see if there are any felons living there. If so, start calling the parole officers and complaining...

And always make a paper trail as long as you can make it.

Make their life a living Hell, if they are trying to intimidate and scare folks off...

And you do not need to answer any doors or phone calls if they think they can come over...

Call child protective services if you see the children out of sorts--like sitting out all day and night without eating--like child neglect...

The idea is to make your neighbors so tired of the law coming over to their house that they either shape up or ship out...

Hell, if you wanna out of there so bad, tell 'em you'd pay a U-HAUL for them to leave...

Would it not be worth it in the long run?

With your suspected drug activity, have you considered tipping off the DEA or your local Sherriff?

Yes KTSnake. We told them when they came by the other day. The problem is, they either make it in their house or their RV. But, you can't get close enough to smell anything. They told us to look for chemical scents.

I'm going out by the RV tomorrow because "I need to get something out of our storage barn." Wink Wink. Hopefully, if they're making anything, we'll be able to smell it. Of course, they could just be using grow lamps in the RV and in their house and we'd never know. (My county is known of late for Meth labs and Pot busts. It's IMO the most beautiful county in the world. But, it does have its down side.)

Tippiechick, not in any way to make light of your situation...but am I the only one who mentally begins to hum "Battling Banjos" when I read about your neighbors?

My parents' neighborhood had a similar situation about 10 years ago and like you it was a very nice, affluent area. However, these dealers had the misfortune of moving in right next door to a retired LAPD chief detective. These people move to nice areas to set up shop because they believe that they can hide under in suburbia and stay the radar.

Good Luck with your problem!

Tippie,

Since you are not a trained detective or law enforcement official, I would really steer clear away from investigating these folks and use other local avenues available to you.

If you get your neighbors involved, then you all can work together to ouster these folks out.

If you somehow obtain any paperwork regarding the sale or leasing of the property and deem it unfit for setting up a household, then there must be something that you can do for your sanity.

See, you DO have the right for defense of your property... Only yours. And you DO have the right to maintain a reasonable level of noises, smells and sights...

You may not ever smell any chemicals... Neither should you have to given your pregnancy... That is what your taxes go toward to pay for the law enforcement that is trained for this kind of work...

You can always call Child Protective Services if you suspect abuse and/or neglect... Regardless if you see the kids or not. You best bet that if there are drugs, the kids are not getting proper education to begin with and that in and of itself is a violation...

Your best bet is to write stuff down, dates, times places with pictures and send the reports to your state and local officials. Build a file as long as you have to. Notify the landlord/owner and sue his or her ass if they don't bring in "families" that will follow the letter of the law. You prop it up in front of court, then the judge will rule... At least you have a public judgement...

If you wanna take the high road, then bake a cake, bring it by the church that's next door and ask the someone in the ministry to reach out. If they reject it, that's their loss. But at least if you get as many social service agencies involved, these folks will either havta put up or shut up...
