I have two female friends, one goes home from work to go. She refuses to go at work. Luckilly she works close to home.

Another one "takes a shower" everytime she has to go at her boyfriends house and even spritzes water on her to feel wet.

So stupid.

Me, personally, I don't like people hearing me but I go if I have to.

OMG I am cracking up over this thread. I am one of those people who won't go anywhere but my own house. WHY? No clue, but I've just always been liek that. I mean of course I have to go other places when I am like on vacation and stuff, but you get the idea.

I won't even tell you guys about my traumatic experience in the third grade when I was in India. Few places actually have toilets, more so just a certain place in the ground you go that goes to the sewer or wherever. When my mom pointed that out to me I almost died.

I took a troop of teenage Girl Scouts to Singapore. We encountered a lot of bathrooms with holes in the floor covered with the usual toilet seats. The worst situation: the ferry across Hong Kong Bay with the toilets that emptied directly into the bay--the bay was about 6 inches from your rear. When the boat lurched, the water sloshed up through the hole all around you.

this is funny!!

i think it is more of an age thing than a gender thing. there are a ton of kids who won't poop at school. they will be absolutely miserable...dancing around, falling out of their seats, etc. and they just will not go to the toilet. one of my student's in the past was on a reinforcement program for pooping at school. he had starting taking medication to relieve constipation and just couldn't hold it all day without being completely miserable. and it is fairly common for kids to hold it for DAYS. one of the teachers still has to keep track of when her 10 yro daughter goes bc if she doesn't go for a few days, she turns into a b*tch.

I am usually at the point of death before I will use a public bathroom - ugh!! In college, I would definitely go to the bottom floor of the library to the bathroom in the far corner where NO one went -- I couldn't stand the group toilet thing in the dorm.

Mr. AXO Alum, my then boyfriend, and his roomies would have the daily "race" after dinner -- 6:01 pm to be exact...all four would head off to the bathroom and the first one back "won" -- won "what" exactly, I probably wouldn't have wanted to know!!!

Carnation....UGH! I would have exploded! I can't do porta potties, much less a hole in the floor!!

Maybe it is because I was watching an old Beavis & Butt-Head tape, but I have this vision of your brother just skipping through the field and taking a random dump.

I was like this when I was younger and it made my mother FRANTIC - the first time we went away on vacation, I didn't "eliminate" for a week. I have grown out of that particular childhood quirk.

When you have to go, there's no time to come down with a case of doodoophobia.

Luckily they have those things called "DOO DROPS". It's a solution that you drop before you unload that will kill the smell. It really works. It kills the smell, but unfortunately it won't hide the sound you might make when dropping the kids off at the pool.

I won't go in public places or friend's homes. Hotel rooms, my own home, parent's homes are all OK... I know makes me weird, but oh well such is life

I'm serious James. I know Walgreens or your local drugstore should sell them. And they're really cheap too!

Forget that. One should be proud of the smell.

Ohhhh myyyy...

I am of the philosophy that "if you gotta go, you gotta go" - but (warning: possible TMI ahead) I always use one of those paper toilet seat covers, or at least toilet paper on the seat, if in a public restroom.

Carnation, I've been to Hong Kong and Singapore, and I know whereof you speak... I will never forget the look on my husband's face the first time he came out of a men's room in HK that had Asian-style toilets. "There were holes in the floor... that flushed!" LOL

Ya know, I used to be like that...

then I started running college cross country (and to a lesser extent, outdoor track). after the first two weeks, it became apparent i had to get used to it or quit.

i do bring a supply of toliet seat covers to meets. they are convient. get 'em at target in the travel size.

Yeah...after living in a dorm and then the sorority house, you learn how to use the bathroom in semi-public. It was a hell of an adjustment, though!
