Germans don't do closets at all. It used to be that they'd be taxed for the number of rooms in their houses, and closets counted as a room. So now they almost always use big amoires. I like mine -- it has five doors and is really long. When I have a walk-in closet, things tend to get all out of order and messy, and after a while I won't even be able to get to the back of the closet! But with my armoire, it's so shallow that even if there's a mess on the floor of it, I can still get to the hanging things just fine.

I want a walk-in closet. I'm sooo jealous right now.

My grandma's house (which my cousin & her family now live in)had closets like this. You could get to every room on the top floor just by walking through the closets...it was neat.

I have the top 1/2 of a duplex and I have a huge walk-in, a bathroom closet, a coat closet and a pantry. And the walk-in has shelves that actually hold all my shoes. I don't know how I survived at my last place with one regular-size closet & 2 dressers.

My apartment is bursting with closets, and it's a mid-size studio. It's a pre-most wars building, built in 1880 - I've got a huge built in wardrobe (cabinet up top, about 5 ft of closet, then three deep drawers), a coat closet bigger than the one at my mom and dad's house, a pantry closet in my kitchen (which I use for cleaning supplies), and a gigantic closet in my living/sleeping area from where the Murphy bed used to be. I also have two 4-ft high china cabinets in the corner of my dining room...I love it, I have more storage than I know what to do with! This was a huge factor in me taking this apt. over another one, even though this one is up 4 very long flights.

I used to have a walk-in closet. Now, I just have this BURSTING tiny closet and a grip of stuh in my storage, along with 1.5 closets at my Mom's house.
