I WAS JUST SAYING THAT THE NEW SET UP SUCKS. I WANST HOWEVER SAYING YOU GUYS SUCK.
Im sorry if most of you guys lives revolve around this site and take it SOOOO personally. I dont.
In my opinion, the new changes were not needed.

Yes, Greeks do stick together. But your post is a little hypocritical.
John provides this site FOR FREE. Now, it's okay to voice your opinion about things. But there's a right way and a wrong way to say things. When you say "this setup blows" and when you title the thread "this sucks", you're not exactly being very fraternal and you're immediately putting everyone who has a stake in it on the defensive. It's a personal insult to John and the people who keep this site running.

Kuddos for John and the people who keep this site running. I have no problem with them.
My problem is for all of the people who like to start drama.
I personlly think the site was find before but its sad how that is not the issue anymore here.
Now this thread is a bitchfeast.
I have no problem with the people who run this but with some of the people who take this site to heart.

Now? It was a "bitchfeast" when you decided to start the thread.

Like I said, that's fine that you have that opinion. But you can't say stuff like that and expect people to not get upself. Word choice is key.
And a lot of people do have personal stakes in the site. Many of us have friendships with other GCers OFF of GC, and have learned a lot from the site over the years.
I hate the drama too, but nothing's getting better by random people starting drama-instigating threads or complaining about things. There's been a lot of those lately.
The format takes some getting used to, but it makes things a lot more organized.

Everyone please relax, this thread doesn't need to turn into an argument. Currently there are just under 34,000 members of the site. When we change things I pretty much expect that there will be some people who do not like the changes. With so many people on the site I think it would be impossible for the site to be so perfect as to please everyone. I can only hope that the majority of people who use this area of the site find the new changes to the CC forums to be useful.

I'd just like to point out a few statistics in support of why these changes in the structure of GreekChat's forums are necessary. Feel free to draw whatever conclusions from these you wish.
As of the last time I checked, GreekChat has:
33,955 members, of whom
75 are moderators, and
1 is an administrator (actually, one of the 75 is also John)
There are also:
39,186 threads containing
546,132 posts
(an average of approximately 14 posts per thread)
Please recognize that the moderators and administrator only constitute 0.224% of the GreekChat population. The remaining 99.776% are the rest of you who enjoy John's very beneficial site (the moderators enjoy it too, and certainly so does John). This means there are approximately 452 of you for every 1 of us.
The workload this places on the moderators (here I'll just use 75 moderators as John is one of them too) works out to an average of approximately 522 threads per moderator (or approximately 7,282 posts per moderator) to keep an eye on. Granted, most of the more frequently enjoyed forums have more than one moderator, but I think you can see my point here.
These new changes not only make it easier for everyone to find the information they want or need, it also makes it easier for the moderators and administrator to maintain for GreekChat an environment conducive to civilized discussions and consistent with the ideals espoused by our many outstanding organizations.
Please keep this all in mind when evaluating your opinion of this site, and especially when planning to post your opinion of it.
Thanks and happy posting!

I like the new setup and I think the mods do a good job. I also think SAEalumnus interpretation and application of stats should qualify him for a position with a major polling organization.

Thanks Bethany! I'll take that as a compliment. I know that a lot of the threads and posts are old ones that people don't generally look at anymore (although some old posts do get resurrected from time to time), but I find that numbers (objective) can tell you more about what's going on than perspectives (subjective). To be honest, though, I'm not sure why we're all (general term, not aimed at anyone specific) making such a big fuss about the changes in GC anyway. All of the same posts and threads are still here (except the few that got deleted or locked), they're just reorganized is all. What's the big deal anyway?
