As long as new members continue to die in hazing related incidences, the news will continue to dig for it. No, we don't all haze, but we're all going to be painted with the same brush, and until we end hazing in our groups (virtually impossible), then these stories will continue to happen.

Guys, think of it like this. It may offend you and it may offend me but I'm gonna fill out the form and when they ask me what I think about it, I'm gonna that I wasn't hazed and that I think what they are doing is offensive and painting us in a bad light. At least they know that I'm a Greek and offended.
If don't want to fill out the form, email them and tell them your offended. Tell them the great things about being Greek. Tell them that with their influence and power over the media that they should be helping us Greeks instead of putting us down.

In fact here is what I stated to them in the response:

As a member of Alpha Delta Pi, I was not hazed. I know that hazing exists, but schools and chapters are drastically trying to change this. I find this 'in depth' study to be offensive. Greek's get a bad enough name because of hazing issues, you doing a story on them doesn't help the situation. Instead, why don't you use the power the NBC holds and support the Greeks. Why don't you discuss our philanthropies. How much money we put to our charities a year. Why not discuss how at some schools Greeks have the highest GPA's. Why not profile famous Greeks. Instead of tarnishing our name, why don't you help us bring Greek life to a better light?


They give you space to type your 'comments', I highly encourage everyone to type exactly how they feel about this story that NBC wants to do. Let's just show them that we Greeks are tired of taking brutality from the media lying down. Let's show them that we are ready to fight.

Sorry, I just get really passionate about things.

Whats sad is that your probably right. It's stupid when you think about it. Why ask us to respond to them and give them our opinions when they are going to twist and turn whatever we say to suit thier own needs.

Another suggestion is for everyone to foward this information on to your executive offices. They will be able to handle this more than we can. They have much more power and influence and I'm pretty sure most (if not all) EO's will band together to stop this production before it starts.

Don't most EOs have the policy that we are not to speak to the media without their permission? I'm sure Gamma Phi HQ doesn't care if I give a quote to the stupid paper that says "Greek Week was AWESOME" but I don't think they'd like me speaking to NBC on our official policies, since, as you saw, it can get distorted.
