Both dresses fit roughly the same (same body lines, etc). It's really hard to tell because the samples that the store had were in a size way too tiny for me (I'm an 8/10 and these samples were a 4/6).
The first dress is made by Marisa. It's an, um, "interpretation" of an Amsale.
And as an FYI for any brides/brides-to-be out there: You can save TONS by ordering your dress online. Dress #1 was in the shop for $1800. I can get it online for just under $1200. Dress #2 retails for $1600 and I can get it for $830.
The only caveat to that is its near impossible to find a discounted Vera, Amsala, Reem, etc. Those designers just don't go on sale, unless you buy from a trunk show.

From an avid fan of theknot.com, I think think the sash dress is WAY overplayed! I definitely think it's beautiful, but I see it everywhere. And truthfully, I dig the top on #2. I love when a dress is a little different, which #2 is, but still classy.

I kind of like #2, because it is different...
but it depends how much you are going to put in the top of the dress. If you are already, ahem, amply endowed, the little foldy things are the last thing you need.
And I know exactly what you mean about something getting knocked off to the point where you don't like it anymore. For my money the only designer that has never happened to is Chanel...

I would definitely go with dress #1. It is simply gorgeous. The pale blue sash might looknice and then also you would have your "something blue" right there.

So random!
I'd go with dress #1, I know it's "overdone" but I really think it's a gorgeous dress.

I like the back of dress #2 better than number 1. During the ceremony, people see more back then front.
