Ladies............i have been reading your post with regards to losing weight. as a nutritionist (MS) alot of what you all say your are doing is incorrect. first, you don't want to diet --you want to make healthy choices ex if you want to do pretzels or popcorn instead of chips,or fig newtons instead of chips ahoy. the atkins diet has alot of ramifications because it is high protein and too much protein causes you to excrete protein in your urine which later almost always (90% of the time)causes problems with your kidneys which puts you at risk for alot of other medical problems. things like metabolite and creatine causes your body to work harder than it has to, which also causes pre mature aging internally. lastly, the low carb diet is ok but you need carbs for energy, so you do not want to go too low. also the doctors only take one class in nutrition and their focus is on treatment. whereas the nutritionsit and/or dietitian speacializes in nutrition and our focus is on pevention. just make sure that if you get advice on any aspect of nutrition that the person has either an RD, MS or PHD behind their name. if anyone wants or needs any info i'm at crystal@flower.aud.temple.edu
there is a cite for figure out the max protein, fat, carb and kcal per day, its www.cyberdiet.com click on nutritional assessment. i hope that this was useful.
just remember you are only suppose to lose 1-2 lbs per week if you want to keep it off.
also make sure that you are excersing 30 min at least 3x weekly. walking is good also but you need to do it an hour each time. good luck with your weight management

Wow!! Thanks, HER_STORY!!! And don't forget about the 64 oz. of water a day, too. I'm on the low carb diet, and it can be just as dangerous if we don't drink that amount of water daily.

Another thing I've found useful in my weight loss quest is the George Forman Grill...Chile..(in my best southern grandma's voice), it works wonders. The grill eliminates the fat in foods. You'll be surprised to see how much fat you eat in different foods. My mom got me hipped to the grill and I use it on a regular basis. George Forman needs to hire me as a spokesperson. If you haven't tried it, try it and I'll bet you'll like it.

I looooovvveeeee the Foreman Grill too. When I got married 11 months and 3 days ago (yes I am counting!) we purchased a Foreman with a gift certificate. For the first few months of our marriage I used it to cook everything!
We still use it but not as much. It really does remove the grease/fat out of alot of meats and it is fast and easy clean up! He needs to hire me as a spokeswoman too...I talked so much about it 3 friends went out and bought one.

Hello all.......i just found this forum and this is my first time posting.
i have to say that starting an exercise program of walking and light weight training combined w/ a low-carb diet has really helped me to lose a few pounds and maintain the weight loss. i've never been that physically active and as i got older it started catching up with me......things began to spread! so i just started walking every day, 20 minutes to start until i was walking an hour at least 5 days a week. i did some research on different forms of exercise and discovered that walking is one the most beneficial exercises you can do and it has absolutely helped me maintain my weight and tone-up!

ladies.......... i was watching extra last night and they had this young girl(~22-25). well she was taking metabolite and suffered a stroke and now can not use the left side of her bodyand she has to go through therapy to learn how to talk. so again be very careful when you take that stuff.
fyi- those weight loss supplements (that is what they are considered) are not regulated by fda !!

Hey ladies. Metabolife worked for me. I started taking it in December of 98, and by March 99, I had lost 27 lbs. It works different ways for different people, but for the most part, if you make sure to drink enough water and eat enough food, it should be allright. Try to take the minimum possible dosage. I think I was taking three a day. If you are consistent with it, you should get results. Today, I think I'm 6 lbs over what I weighed when I stopped taking it over a year ago. All in all, it worked for me.

Catwoman I would have to agee with you, the old fashion way is the best way, good diet and exercise. I believe that any form of dieting medication is not necessary and good for your health. One reason is because you lose the weight to fast and they are altering your eating habits. Know, I am not quite sure but it seems to me that something that make you not hungery or eat less must be harmful to your body and your other organs that feed off of the nutrients and vitamins that are in most of the food that you are elimenating in you life. I would suggest that you go on a fruit diet and buy fresh fruit, not those in grocery stores that are pumped full of preserves and hormones, try farmers market and exercise to tighten up any loose muscles. Peace and on love for all. Remember, do not let the stereotypes of a beautiful woman fool you, you are beatiful as you are.

Hello,
I also tried a product like Metabolife a couple of months ago, and it did not work for me. I am short and obese, but since I don't look obese, no one takes my dieting seriously. Currently I started taking Xenadrine. So far I have lost 4 pounds in one week. Plus I exercise as much as I can. I also don't drink soda or anything with caffine in it because the pills have ephedra in it and could cause a nervous jitter.

METABOLIFE WORKS!!!
Update...
Since posting this topic 4 months ago, I have lost 52 pounds using this product. I have so much energy now. I am now at my ideal weight for my height of 5'6", I went from 177 to 125 and I am loving it (I sound like an advertisement for Metabolife). Any other testimonies?

Yes, I don't take as much as I use to (Initially I was taking the maximum of 8 per day, then I went to 6 per day, and now I do 3 per day, one before each meal). I will gradually stop taking them. I don't want to lose anymore weight but I tell ya the pounds were just dropping like rain in April. I pray I will be able to keep it off after Metabolife.
