None of my close friends in high school went greek, in fact out of all my close friends in high school I'm the only one who A) went Greek and B) actually graduated with my BA/BS. But from my high school alone and people I knew, quite a few went greek.
(all these number are approximate, there are probably more but I'm just thinking of people that I know)
7 went ADPi (woo hoo)
1 went A Chi O
4 went Chi O
1 went Alpha Phi
1 went Theta
1 went DG
3 went Kappa
2-3 went Gamma Phi
1 went A G D
1 went Sigma Kappa (but later had to depledge due to money issues)
Unfotunately I don't know of any guys going Frat wise, I'm sure some did. I probably won't find out until my 10 reunion.

Well of people that I would actually consider friends, only one went greek, and she joined AOII because I dragged her to my chapter for COB events when I saw her on campus. Others that I know of as acquaintances did but not many
Kinda funny as a matter of fact, three girls were so inseperable and still are, all went DG. (UCLA and LMU)
1 guy went Delta Sigma Phi at Cal Poly SLO.
1 girl went ADPi at UCLA.
The rest, I don't know...but might see in a month at our 10 year reunion and will find out then.

4 went AOII
3 went DZ
1 went Zeta
1 went Pi Phi
1 went Phi Mu
1 went KD
1 went DG
and as for boys, I know we have a few Theta Chi's and the rest scattered all over, I can't keep track of where.

DZ
Tri Sigma
DTD
AZD
SK
Pi Phi
Phi Mu
SDT
That's all, I think!

I don't know about a lot of people in high school especially since I had a large graduating class that spread out a lot when we all went to college, but here it goes.
Out of my class (that I know of):
AXO
DG
A-Phi
KKG
AZD (later depledged)
KAT
PKT
LXA
TKE
Sigma Nu (current president actually)
Thats all I can think of right now....I'm waiting until my 5 year to see what else I can come up with.

AFAIK, none of my close high school friends joined a sorority, but some classmates did join at various schools (I went to an all-girl HS):
2 AOIIs (one had to depledge due to family illness, and ME!)
1 Chi O
1 Gamma Phi Beta
1 Pi Phi
Weirdly enough, many more girls went greek from my grade school. I think there were 5-6 of us who were eventual AOIIs at about 4 different schools!

Well of my close high school friends that I keep in touch with none went greek and they were all very suprised when I went Greek. And even outside of that circle though I haven't really heard of that many people going greek the ones i have heard about went Sigma Kappa, Phi Sigma Sigma, Sammy, and AEPi. I think its because I went to a very liberal and very academicly competitive HS in NYC and a lot of people from my hs probably think they're too smart for greek life or that greeks are too elitist. Off course they're wrong but its sometime very hard to knock down peoples misconceptions.

Lets see...My high school friends or aquintances went:
4 Tridelts (including me!)
2 DZ
1 DG
1 Theta
2 Alpha Phis
1 ADPi
2 Chi-O
1 Pi Phi
2 AXO
2 Sig Eps
1 Theta Chi
1 TKE
1 Delta Sig
1 Beta
Okay, this is all I could think of off the top of my head but I' sure there is more. It's kind of weird because it seemed like in my class there was an explosion of grads who joined a greek organization.

Well let me think. My two best friends since the 2nd grade, both of them became greek. One is a tri Delt at the U of AZ and the other is a DZ in Nebraska. Most girls from my graduating class ended up as Sigma Kappa's at UNO. Another good friend became an AChiO at ASU and the other is a Gamma Phi at UNL. As far as guys go most of my high school guy friends are either Sigma Chi's or Delts at UNL or Sig Ep's and Pikes in Omaha. My very best guy friend is a Beta Theta Pi at the U of Iowa too. Weird, now that I think about it I can't think of really any of my HS friends that didn't become greek, craziness!

Most of my high school graduating class didn't consider themselves to be "the Greek type." A lot of them also went to schools with no Greek system or very small or unrecognized Greek systems, so it's not really surprising.
One of my friends is now a DG, and I know two Beta Theta Pis at different schools (Lawrence University and University of Washington-St. Louis).

My best friend rushed at FSU her sophomore year, but didn't get invited back to Kappa Alpha Theta so she dropped. She still had several excellent houses but I don't think she felt like she fit in. I told her to consider AI (with Alpha Phi!).
Several girls who hung out with my best friend but not me actually went Alpha Phi at UIUC and Northern IL. We couldn't believe it when we ran into each other and found out we were sisters!
A friend at Butler went AXO, and an ex at UIUC went Phi Kappa Sigma but never got initiated (grades). And a girl I met at UIUC though other friends became Prez of SAI. I was so proud of her!
I'm sure I'll find out at a reunion about more.

My friends always thought I'd go Greek, but they were shocked that I didn't my Freshman year, but I did the year after.
We had a group of ten best friends and we called ourselves the Ten Hot Lesbians(don't ask) and of the ten of us, I went Chi-O, one went Lambda Kappa Sigma(a pharm sorority), another is a Sigma Kappa in UCSD, two joined service frats, I know one is in APhiO in UCLA, and the other is one I never heard of at UCR. The half that didn't go Greek are either thinking about it or totally against it...I guess stereotypes are hard to get past even when your friends disprove them...go fig.
Just about everyone else I knew from my high school went Greek too.

At my high school, rarely anyone even went to a University. Most chose to go to a junior college down the road. The only people I knew before college that went greek was a girl who went DG at Chapman University in CA, and my cousin recently joined Phi Kappa Psi at San Diego State. My friends from high school definitely don't know what they're missing
