Outside of the Northeast, I don't think many black girls double dutch. Since I've been in Florida, I haven't met one person who can double dutch who isn't originally from the Northeast. Maybe it's a regional thing.

Some others:

The only thing that can get your card pulled in my book is being damn near afraid of other black people.

You know this Negro. The one who always eyes you furtively when they see you out and then runs away and talks to their white friends all night, rather pointedly ignoring you whenever confronted with your presence in public. Of course then there's also the one who will talk to you when it is just the two of you, but as soon as their paler friends come along they can not even remember your name.

I always wonder if those people think that the rest of us are going to attack them or what, like we carry around black power parapanelia or something. Like I'm going to attack them with a daishiki?

After an hour we will have them at the next black-people-meeting, ranting about "the man" and listening to boring backpacker hip hop or WORSE, Master P.

Onethe real, we are such a diverse group of people (be you from the islands or not) that there really isn't too many things that will revoke one's black card. The only person who that has PUBLICLY done something to get their black card revoked would be:

I think we were definitely separated at birth!

And my grandmother thinks I am weird because I don't do chitlins or pigs feet....ewwww!

She cooks them damn things on New Years. I don't care HOW friggin cold it is, I leave the house when she puts them on the stove...and I stay out all day!

Oh yeah, not doing "the nod" when you see other black folx in the store!

In Canada and in Western Washington, I always do the nod and mouth "hi"...not many of us in the Pacific NW. Shocked to see there are 3 of "us" in my Alumnae Chapter.

Yoink! There goes my card... My mom would never spank me... she would just whisper in my ear that if she hit me...it would kill me... so it's best that i go to my room now. LOL! That sounds so funny now...but when i was a kid... that was all i needed to hear to straighten up.

I hate to say it BUUTT...you lost your black card IF...especially back in the day.......maybe now

1. you dated/slept with/married/hung with white women/men
especially if you were a "black nationalists" hollering "black power"
2. dressed preppy..ya know argyle sweater, with the crisp white shirt and collar up, pants rolled at the bottom and the penny loafer fo' sho!

3. moved to the suburbs

4. didn't go to an all black high school/college

5. if you thought O.J. did it! (in my Ced the Entertainer voice) lololo

6. if you listened to heavy metal/ rock and roll (but I like system of a down

)

7. didn't have a jherri curl (my black card went out the window...because no matter how bad I wanted one my momma wouldn't let me...she said I couldn't put that sloppy shut yo' mouth in my head....THANK-U MAMA!!!

...kids listen to yo' mama!)lolol
