Vern or Laurie.
I like clean straight lines,
but with comfort. I think
Vern provides that. Laurie
is pretty clean as well and
I find her designs to be classy.
She's all about the fabric and
I find that to be a good thing.

Gen and Doug are hit or miss.

Hildi, Frank, and Kia's styles
do not jive with me. Hildi is
absurd with too many of her
designs...painting a couch?!
Come on, give me a break!
Kia and her grass bed (astroturf?)...
let's be a little realistic.
Frank is too country for me.

Are you talking about the time she built the room into a tent and painted the couches magenta? That was hideous!

I believe that was the episode.
The couches were ruined by the
rain and so she had to purchase
new furniture...thank goodness.
Talk about a blessing in disguise! The
fabric was much better.

I can only imagine what the
texture of the furniture is like
once it's been painted. How
comfortable to the touch can
it be?

I'd have to say if I saw Frank, Gen, or Vern show up to work on my room I would be very happy.

I usually like Laurie's designs. Edward and Kia are fairly new but I've liked theirs pretty much all the time.

I would back out of the contract if either Doug or Hildi were to be the designers on my room. I can't stand anything they've done. I take that back I did like one of Dougs once at least I liked it out of anything he's done, it had a lot of clocks on the wall of the kitchen. Hildi and Doug just use too much weird stuff. There was Hildi's one that looked like a circus tent, the one where she painted her face on the wall, and the bathroom with all the silk flowers all over the walls and everything. Doug with his Zebra stripes, there was something with grass in planters on the floor. I can't remember which one put straw all over the wall but heck no, especially from someone who suffers from allergies. I can't remember which did the one with the kitchen that had wine labels for the coverings (in a house where the family didn't drink or even have alcohol in the house) or who did the red spots all over the wall (all I could think of was a Target commercial)

Ok, I love Vern's designs. He did this great room for a teenage girl where he hung small fish bowls from the ceiling infront of this purple velvet wall. It looked so cool. I think because he's an architect I like his designs more. They seem to have less frivilous useless stuff. Like Dougs "art" in that DU chapter room. It was ropes tied in knots hanging from the ceiling. Yeah, better to hang you with my dear . I also like Genevieve quite a bit.

I do not like Hilde, Doug, or Laurie. All of thier designs are so random, and they are always arguing with the homeowners.

Frank is a hit or miss. He's usually too country for me though.

But as long as Ty's the carpenter they can pretty much do what ever they want.

Designer

I would definitely want Frank to work on my house. I usually love his designs. I especially loved a room where he painted a portrait of the couple's daughter on the wall peeking out from their entertainment center!

Frank or Vern for me. Doug is too risky - my favorite design is Doug's (the teal walled oriental bedroom), but, most of my LEAST favorite designs are his as well.

Franks - haven't seen one I didn't really like. Vern is usually very good at what he does - very particular.

It's all about Vern. I don't think I would want any of the other designers to touch any room of mine.

By the way, I heard from someone that the way Hildi does rooms for paying customers is actually really nice -- it's just that she saves all her "controversial" ideas for Trading Spaces and they turn out horrible. I don't know if this is true though.

I have really liked the rooms Edward has done this season, so I'd say him, although Vern does nice rooms as well, but sometimes he uses too many candles and not enough "pretty stuff". I may like Doug if he promised not to paint my walls brown or lime green!

I love Frank the very very most of all the TS designers! Say what you will about him, but he seems to try to make his room really work for the homeowners.

I love Vern and Gen (esp. for kitchens!!) and like Laurie and awful lot. I don't think there has ever been a Vern room that I didn't adore, and he's known for really doing his homework about his rooms before he ever gets there. If you overlook the "Doug character" that the production team has developed the past 2 seasons--he's done an awful lot of good stuff on the show. I really haven't seen enough Edward rooms to have an opinion one way or the other.

If Hildi, Kia or Dez showed up I'd cry like a baby, then shut the door.

Anyone watch Changing Rooms? How I'd love for Linda Barker to come redo a room for me!

Christin

Doug is just awful....what the heck is with his themes for doing modes of transportation for rooms?
Kia and her shopping around the house for other items bugs me, now the home owners have empty other rooms to just complete one.
Hildi is whacked out, has she ever done something that a normal person would apprieciate?
Verne does a great job, but everything looks like he stole it out of the IKEA catalouge.
Gen, Laurie, and Frank are all great!

Actually, Hildi did a drop-dead gorgeous dining room in season one, in the Alpharetta: Providence Oaks episode. Absolutely classic and definitely stunning, and one of my all-time favorite rooms from the show.

Vern and Laurie are my favorite two designers, and Gen is good too. Vern did this awesome job of putting this diamond shaped padding on a wall and it looked amazing.

I would not be happy with Hilda at all. I remember when she put these wine labels on kitchen walls and the neighbors who did the room with her bought a steamer for their friends to take the labels off the wall. What a bad idea!

And I'm definitely a fan of Carter and Ty of course.
