Put it in the fridge before you use it, it works even better to soothe the pain.
Good call - I am incredibly fair (Irish much) and I use aloe all summer long. I usually put it on as soon as I get out of the shower, so then it is dry and un-sticky by the time I get dressed. The fridge thing works wonders, during the summer I keep my moisturizer in the fridge as well

Whatever you do, if you have sensitive skin, do not get medicated aloe. I got roasted last year in St. Louis at a track meet, and I bought the medicated stuff thinking it would make me feel better. It burnt so badly, I was crying when I put it on.

Most other lotions trap in the heat so that's why I said don't use something perfumed.
They also contain alcohol and scents.

I went to the beach Saturday and came back with a nice tan, except for on my chest and legs (which never really see sun). Those parts of me are tomato red and according to the site provided by CutiePie2000, I am moderately - severely sunburnt on my chest and legs. It hurts like a *****!!!!!

Tip = wear sunscreen, not matter if you have never burned

I rarely ever burn as bad as I am right now. That is thanks to the 4 hours I spent laying out by the pool. Anywho, I have in front of me Burt's Bees "Baby Bee Buttermilk Lotion". It says it is enriched with Vitamin E and Aloe Vera. I'm gona use it on my less burnt areas and see what happens.

For now on my back it'll be the green gel stuff by Banana Boat.

I swear by that stuff too. My mother always used that on me. I heard that about noxema on the first day.

aloe or solocaine is the best when and if i am out inthe sun. I am rarely out there these days...matter of fact i washed my car at 7 am this morning so it wouldnt be hot as i was washing it.

I never ever heard that about apsrin or tylenol....you find something new out daily.

Noxema now that is some smelly stuff...never liked that stuff

<------- Has joined the Skin Cancer Survivors Club!

Last year, I got terribly burned at a soccer game while out of town, and the only drugstore didn't have Solarcaine. I try Walgreen's gel that came in a tube, and it was wonderful! It didn't have that stench that so many of the other remedies have, and I think it did have aloe in it. All I know is that the blisters died down in record time, and the pain was bearable!!

I've been slathering myself with Aloe Vera gel for the last week and a half- apparently I've had enough long-term exposure to some plant I'm allergic to while weed-whacking that I have small blisters breaking out all over my arms.

Is it normal to be like freezing your ass off when you're sunburnt? Cuz seriously I've been sooooo cold.
