This was most definitely for ALL mods, not just AKA or NPHC, but ALL GC MODS. Because you are right, we do get pummeled for any and everything.

Soror 2D, I sent you an email.

Fortunately for me, the Kappa Forum is not anywhere as busy as the AKA and DST forums. However, I do hate from time to time when guys come in the forum and they have names like prettyboy or play boy. First off, you are insulting my organizations cause all you equate with Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. is the playboy bunny or being prettyboys, NO! Or they just ask plain ole stupid questions about membership. Or they wanna know stup chit like what's the purpose of the canes. N.O.Y.D.B! As Moderators, we sometimes have to deal with stupid chit. We don't sit around all day trying to see how many threads we can delete. It's not like that. Ideal 08, and other mods in the forums I feel ya. Sometimes people just don't get it.

I'm curious about something, and this is kind of a random thought. If you initiate a conversation, then you get a response you don't want to hear, so you respond, "it's not that serious," was it serious enough for you to start the conversation in the first place? I mean, what does that mean? Or if you continue to respond... if you are responding, is it serious, or no? I don't get that, and to tell you the truth, it kinda ticks me off. If it's not that serious, then SHUT UP TALKIN' TO ME!!! Period. If it's not that serious, why did you spend time telling me about it in the first place? And who do people think they are anyway? What if it's serious to me? Who are you to belittle what I think is serious? I mean, really. People need to get over themselves, for real.
AMEN!

Wink GIRL!!!!!!!

I have been a member of GC for a while now and I know that you ladies were very harsh in many respects. I didn't agree with it, but I understood it. It was to keep this board from becoming such a negative, inappropriate place.

People are VERY bold on the internet. No matter how much they claim otherwise, most folks do not have the courage to come out of their mouths in person the way they do online.

Life is so much more. If folks are getting bent out of shape..POOF, BE GONE!! Boot them out. If someone comes out of their mouths with some foolishness and then have the audacity to say, "its not that serious", when you come back on them, you know that you hit a nerve. Let it go. The great thing is that we have freewill. MAKE THE DELETE BUTTON YOUR FRIEND or simply don't respond.

WE all get consumed some days by our internet forums and chatrooms. Somedays you have to turn off the computer. Take a step back. I know you all have lives and jobs outside of this. In the grand scheme of things, this doesn't mean a hill of beans. This board and others like it is a privledge and not a right. It is just another way for folks to connect on a variety of levels. But it shouldn't be a vehicle for discontent and unhappiness. Ideal I know you have some things coming down the pike--focus on that.

I hear you, (((hugs)) to all of you moderators. Thanks for taking the initiative, but perhaps all of you need to take a GC mental health break. Shoot, its summer time. Time to have fun, relax, get tanned and do a little partying.

Well back to studying!!!!!

It looks like Soror Ideal is now in Ethiopia!!

This is for when she gets back...

Soror Ideal,

I thank my lucky stars that there are people like you who are willing to VOLUNTEER THEIR TIME to act as moderators - otherwise, there would be no forums.

People say the Internet isn't that serious, etc., etc. and, when I leave my computer, I really don't think about any of the forums or the people on them too often (it's hard to think about people without a visual image) until I come back to it; the 'net has something of an unreal quality about it. However, my association with the people on this and other forums has led me to action outside the 'net. The positive interaction with Sorors and the enthusiasm of not only Sorors but Sisterfriends on the forum led me to reactivating with my local grad chapter last year and I'M SOOO HAPPY THAT I DID.

So why, with a full life outside the 'net, do I make time to log on? I think the internet gives us a better view of humanity, in general, and how closely we are all connected. Because we are given the opportunity to converse without preconceived notions that accompany appearance, we know each other only insofar as we are all human beings with at least one common interest (the D9). While some people look at the 'net as a chance for an alternative personality, I look at it as a chance to be who I really am.

I am a quiet person "out there." I'm rather reclusive and would sometimes much rather keep company with a book than with another human being. Keeping up that outer shell is a lot of work and face-to-face conversation can at times be emotionally draining. I, personally, have a very busy life outside the ‘net. I have two children, a husband, a classroom full of 18-20 year olds (9 months a year), an employer, friendships, and other loved ones who expect me to give them what they need. The ‘net is there when I want and need it and I am expected to give nothing; all I have to do is turn on my computer. My messages will wait for me until I return, and the forums will trot merrily on with or without me. It is a refuge where I have ‘net friends’ and associates who don’t expect anything but are there when I feel like enjoying their association without putting on airs or pretense. Maybe many people feel the same way? Probably.

I think many people who enjoy being on the 'net have this in common: we need the company of people and society, but find sometimes that being around people can be too demanding. The Internet is not a place to hide, it's just a place for entirely different types of friendships than we make off the 'net. My best friend is a "social butterfly" and spends hardly enough time on the internet to check her emails; it just doesn't mesh with her personality.

Soror Ideal, please don't take to heart any "get a life" posts. This is an important part of many of people’s lives and I’m thankful for people like you who incur the responsibility of moderating forums such as this one. Leave those haters in your dust and keep living your life my beautiful "ideal" Soror.

Hope Ethiopia was as "ideal" as you imagined.

Sisterly,
CG

Wink Re: Re: WOW-Where the *bleep* have YOU been?

You know I'm always late - but I do remember her trip - - - a trip that is very much needed. I really want to tell her about something else she may need - not that i'm available but i certainly talk about it.

Thumbs up I need to add

I'm very thankful for our moderators. They keep this board civilized and very sisterly, and I think the tenets set out in the Pearls of Wisdom and the Torch (over on DST Blvd.) play a big role in that.

Yes, we do get into arguments and vigorous discussions.

But GC is a good sight better than many other boards I've visited. The lack of moderation, IMO, leads to situation where members are calling each other foul names and bickering about things that really need to be kept within the family. Very tasteless.

That's uncalled for and beneath us. We are supposed to be better than that.

That's EXACTLY how I feel! The moderators do a great job of keeping the BS and negativity to a minimum...Without them, this board, along with the other boards, would be pure madness...

So, a sincere thank you goes out to all the Mods sof all the GC Forums...You allow civilized, mature people like myself to interact with other like-minded individuals and form new friendships that we may otherwise not have been able too! Y'all handle a lot of drama, and I say just ban those suckas from GC that want to act a fool in here...
