<<hugs FAB*SpiceySpice>> I hear ya!
<<hugs Smiley21>> Wow, I can't even imagine that....

My story starts: I got my lisence Dec.19th

Had my 1st accident Jan. 23rd when some random old man runs a red light and lightly brushes my car...very minimal damage (minor paint transfer) and he decides not to report it. I was so scared I was @ fault that I didn't say anything (it was only later that i realized HE had run the red light and would have been @ fault so that's why he didn't want to report it...jerk...) But not to mention I had my boyfriend w/ me and there's a law here that you can't drive with anyone except family for 6mos after getting liscenced...)

Had my 2nd accident (kid rear-ended me leaving school while I was stopped at the stoplight) Jan. 24th (day before my 17th b-day) My trunk gets smashed and no longer opens

Had my 3rd accident Feb.1st on the highway @ 7am (on my way to school w/ my brother)...wet and rainy morning, car comes flying around a curve in the passing lane and tries to merge into my lane (the travel lane) without taking any notice of me and smashes into my drivers side rear quadrant. (Mind you- I'm going about 55- he was pushing 70) I loose control of the car and go flying across the highway, bounce off the guard rail, go flying back in the other direction and the side of my car hits an overpass abuttment. (If I had hit the overpass 1ft to the left it would have been a head-on collision and I don't think I'd be here today to tell you about it) My car finally comes to a halt and slides back down onto the highway...only it doesn't look like a car anymore...it's a hunk of twisted metal. My brother and I walk out w/ minor bruises and a sprained finger.

My 4th accident - Aug. 9th, I'm on my way to a friend's wake and I rear end my best friend as we're both caught up in the kind of "traffic" around the funeral home. I was going less than 15mph when I hit her but my airbags deployed which in turn broke my windshield and totaled the car...the front end damage was so minimal...broken light and twisted lisence plate...I could have driven away if the stupid air-bags didn't deploy! grr...stupid Hyundai! lol....i miss that car

Ah geez...car wrecks. Isht..... here goes

My senior year I rearended some overbearing chain smoking soccer mom. She pitched a hissy, but as it turned out, no damage done to either car. She was just a bitch.
A month later I was driving to a volunteer job and got broadsided by a pharmacy delivery truck. Screwed up my car to the tune of $1300. Thank God for insurance.
My freshman year of college I got creamed by a campus mail delivery truck (think UPS style truck) in my tiny Mazda. He was totally at fault. I had over $3000 worth of damage, a concussion and a freaking sore back.
January I had the mother of all wrecks. Mr. Swissmiss was driving and we lost control at 60 mph, went off the road, off about a 40 ft drop and crashed into a swamp of sorts and hit a tree. Cracked my sternum, separated two ribs, hit my head, burned my face, bruised up the right side of my body, and lost my sense of smell (it's still not 100%). I still have flashbacks and nightmares. But thankfully I've recovered and I have 90% of my upper body strength back. It's been hard and slow, but I'm getting there.

I mean I really suck at driving, you guys, I mean REALLY suck! My last accident was in January and I pretty much totaled my car, and I am still paying off the thousands of dollars worth of damage I did to it! Oops. Fortunately for me though I always run in to inanimate objects (parked cars, light poles, basketball hoops, etc.) so I never have to pay for damage to some other person's car luckily!

I have been rear ended twice and also hit a walk/don't walk sign while driving drunk in a monsoon at 3 am. My car used to be purty, now it is not.

Eeek. I've been in 3 major automobile accidents, none of which were my fault. The most serious one was the first accident--in June of 1997. Four close friends of mine and I went out for dinner. We were on the way back to my house when an oncoming car decided to pull a U-turn on a red light. We were already through the intersection when we were hit head-on.

He must have been drunk, because his car was pinned between our car and a concrete island. He then threw his car into reverse, rammed our car several times to push us out of his way, and then left the scene. I have no recollection of this happening because I was knocked unconcious from the first impact.

The car was totalled, and all the airbags deployed. I was lucky to walk away with a concussion, whiplash, cuts, bruises, and a golf-ball sized hematoma on my left shin that put me on crutches for a few weeks. Thank God I was wearing my seatbelt. One of my friends didn't wear hers--she hit the metal bars that lift the headrest face-first. Her face was lacerated and she has permanent scars on her forehead now.

The police found the car that hit us abandoned a few miles away. We never did find out who the driver was--the owner of the car pleaded ignorance.

I was rear-ended in the other two accidents. I'd been in physical therapy years and was doing well until about 2 years ago, when my symptoms became suddenly worse. I was diagnosed with trauma-induced fibromyalgia about a year and 1/2 ago. My life has changed tremendously since then. Thank goodness I have wonderful doctors and therapists. With their help, I have done a 180. While I still have bad days, they are much fewer and farther between now.

The last car accident that I was in was in October of 2001. My husband and I were on our way to meet some friends to go to a Detroit Lions game...hey, we got the tickets for free... Anyway, as we are driving along in our Trans Am a Plymouth Voyager decides it's going to try to share the same lane with us and merges over. When the Voyager hit us it sent our car into a curb and it blew out both of the drivers side tires and bent one of the rims...which are not cheap to replace. The passenger side of the car had a huge scrape from the front to back and the mirror was knocked off.

When the tow truck came he didn't realize that our accident required a flatbed truck because of the tire damage. When the flatbed arrived my husband and I cringed as they loaded the car and completely scraped up the front end of the car trying to get it onto the flatbed...

I was doing one of my in-cars for driving school and I was stopped at a red light and taking my time, being careful before i tried to make a right on red. right before i was about to go I got rear-ended. why? the old lady said that she had already looked to make sure there were no cars coming so she thought she could go.

i got my license on Dec 7. on Dec 12 i ran over my neighbor's mailbox. the father seemed really understanding at first becaus the roads were really slick due to the snow and i had hit an ice patch in front of their house, but they were horrible all year. we couldn't replace it until the ground thawed but by then one of their sons (who happened to be in my grade at school) had been harassing me for 4 months...caling me names whille walking behind me and such and had left me out of the senior section of the yearbook because he was in charge. My dad had to call his parents twice to tell them that they better talk to him about it and his mother ddn't care! she kept telling another neighbor that she was going to call the police on me.

a few months ago, one of my best friends from high school had her car in the shop (a brand new BMW) and was using a rental car. Later that day she got in an accident and the rental car was TOTALED.

Hmmm.. I guess it's better the rental car got it and not the BMW

On a side note, last night I was talking to one of my sisters and she said traffic was at a STAND STILL on evening. Which didn't sound too odd at first, because in this area, we just come to expect bad traffic... but the stand still traffic was at 1 AM on a Saturday night Apparently there was a really bad accident involving a couple of 18-wheelers

Also -- anyone living in south texas, BEWARE!!! My younger biological sister gets her driver's license next month

I've been about 3 fender benders (I used to drive an old mustang and when you take your foot off the brake even the slightest bit, it races forward at like 10 mph) but the worst accident happened just up the street from my house. Iwas driving through the neighborhood and was coming up to an intersection where the crossing traffic has a stop sign, I do not. So I'm driving along and see a car coming up to the stop sign. Expecting him to stop, I kept going, but I guess he figured he was in a hurry and it would be my turn this time. Well, I didn't have time to stop once I saw he was going through and he totalled my car !! So after he gets out to see if I'm ok, he gets in his car to "move it out of the intersection" and decides that to really make it safe, he should drive down the street and off into the unkown. Jerk!! The cops finally track him down (no license, no insurance, no brain) and schedule him for a hearing, which of course he doesn't go to. Bench warrants don't mean anything. So now I have no car, and $500 in hospital bills. Isn't life grand??

AZpinkkittie, if the cops found the guy, shouldn't they have arrested him on the spot? I thought leaving the scene of an accident was an arrest-worthy offense

No, it's not. And I think he turned himself in. They give you a court date then you're supposed to show up. Now, if he gets caught for anything else, it will show he has a warrant out for him for not appearing in court, and I will be notified

not a car crash but a bad breakdown story...

I'm driving from Pennsylvania to Washington DC for a job interview. I'm in Maryland and I get on the Balt-Wash parkway and find myself stuck in traffic for 40 miles. My car starts overheating. I finally get off onto New York ave and pull into a hotel parking lot to turn off my car and let it cool down. The car cools down and I get back on NY ave. About a min later I notice my car overheating and it's making loud clunking noises. At that point I knew I was in trouble but I was like two blocks from my interview and I figured if I could get my car to Union Station and park it, I could make the interview. I turn down Florida ave and then miss the turn for NE Capital ave and end up back on NY ave - now lost in DC with a very overhearted car. My car stalls in the middle of a busy intersection. I coax my poor car over to the side of NY ave (I'm in a really ghetto area at this point) and call AAA. Two hours later they show up and take me to an even more ghetto area to get my car repaired (West Virginia ave for those who know DC). Luckily it was just a broken radiator hose and they were able to fix it quickly but I still missed the job interview

January 21, 2002-
Three car loads of Alpha Gams were on their way to do community service in a nearby town that has population like 2000. Anyway, we were about to turn right into a parking lot, the first car was turned and the second car in the process (all 3 had their blinkers on and were in the right hand lane) when a Semi Tractor trailer rear ended the last car (the one that I was in- in the backseat no less) which was almost stopped. The semi was doing 45 and the driver said he "just didn't see" us.
Anyway, I was taken to a nearby hospital and I was sore for like 4 weeks solid. I ended up having to drop down to 2 classes, take 12 months of physical therapy and have 3 surgeries. My neck, shoulder and back were all screwed up.
Now, I am in the middle of a lawsuit because over and above what the personal injury insurance paid (your auto insurance pays for car accident injuries) of around $10,000 I am out to collections on another $20,000 at least!
I had the nerve endings in my C4, C5, C6 and C7 vertabrae burned and I no longer have any sensation in the upper left quadrant of my back (and I never will again). My shoulder has scar tissue inside of it that I have to exercise and keep broken up (my arm will forever make noises! Like SNAP CRACKLE POP!) and I have developed a high tolerance to pain killers and muscle relaxers (you take em for 12 months and see how you do). So Percocet, darvocet and Lortabs along with valium, skelakin and Ultram are all like tylenol's to me. My last surgery they used enough medicine to put me under to put out a 250 lbs. man... and I was just barely medicated...
I hate car accidents!

I'm suddenly very grateful that none of my or my husband's car accidents resulted in anyone's injury or death. <knock on wood>

I hope that those of you who have been injured recover soon.

My firsr accident I was a passenger. I was In England visiting family and in the backseat. My aunt was driving and pulled onto a Roundabout. f you have ever been in a proper one, all the trafic goes one way,and it is nearly impossible to go the wrong way (you have to make a really big effort to do it wrong!) and an old guy, going the wrong way in the Roundabout, hits us head on. He was so old and out of it, I don't know why he was still driving.

My second one, I was driving my Ford Festiva (tin can on wheels) and hit a deer. The impact was so hard that the radiator came off it's mounting, and the drivers side fender and the door both got crunched up.

My third happend finals week this year. I was pulling out of an alley that runs behing my house. To the left is a hill that goes around a blind corner. you have to inch out about 5 times to even see if it's clear, so I do that, and am heading across the street to get a parking space, when a cyclist runs into my truck! There's a big dent right above the rear drivers side wheel and the canopy is all cracked. Now everytime my freinds see someone on a bike, they make fun of me!

I've never been in an accident where I was driving, except for swiping a support in the carport at my apartment complex. All it did was put some scratches near the headlight and a very slight slight dent.

Only accident I've been in some guy T-boned my mom and I as we were making a left turn. Don't know how the heck he missed a bright red Audi 100, but he claimed he didn't see us.

I felt kinda bad for the guy too... he had only had his car for 3 weeks and he didn't even have the title yet. But he really only had some paint missing above the headlight... our entire drivers side was crumpled in, and we had to take the door off to get my mom out (since she's a paraplegic she couldn't crawl over the seats).
