I remember wearing IOU sweatshirts. They were the coolest thing in the universe for a time. You could get them 2 for 50 bucks at Merry-Go-Round. Plus, I would dress them up with a sweet color-coordinating turtleneck.
I also wore pj pants to class a lot in college. I admit it. Everyone else did, so it was ok.
For a short time in high school, I was the cheerleader with short, spikey purple hair. That was pretty cool.
During the Clueless-era, I rocked the plaid miniskirt with thighhighs. I guess those are still in style among the stripper set.
*Edited to add* The matching EVERYTHING outfits? Yeah, 5-7-9 was the place to go if you wanted to be accessorized from head to toe. I owed a few of those babies.

I'll back you up on that! In elementary school I had lime green, bright pink, yellow, orange, every single color... And I thought they were great! Did you ever wear two colors at the same time and layer them?? What the f was I thinking back then??

Oh god, I did...I had forgotten. Lime green and hot pink together. What a match.
Did anyone else do the "french roll" to their jeans? I never did, but the people in the class above me did in middle school. I can't remember what it was but the bottom of your jeans were rolled and folded in a certain way. And you wore that with white keds lol

I've never really been one to be completely in style, but at least over the last 4-5 years, I've been much more in tune... I'm the kind of girl who just likes to be comfortable, so sometimes I say screw the fashion rules. Let's see...
in middle school and the beginning of high school, i was somewhat of a tomboy, so i'd wear ratty jeans, airwalks/etnies, and either a plain color sweatshirt or one of my brother's flannel shirts. I looked pathetic.
Once i finally realized that I looked terrible in high school, and that I had these (although small) things called "breasts," I tried to look a little better. Typically, I wore jeans all the time. I still do. I LOVE jeans. But at least I wore makeup, brushed my hair, and tried to flaunt what little I had.
Now I'm still into just wearing Jeans (or jean skirt, when apporpriate), but i can dress it up a bit more. I'm a huge fan of black pants (have 5 pairs), so when i dress nicer, that's my thing.
I'm still not into the more expensive fashion... I can deal with shopping at Hollister and American Eagle, but I get annoyed with Abercrombie (everyone owns the SAME thing). I just wear what's comfortable...

Does anyone remember those little clip like things that you would pull one side of your shirt through? I used to have tons of those....
I also rocked the lime green socks, and hot pink ones. In fact if something was hot pink, I would wear it.
I also used to wear spandex biker shorts with coordinating tops.
In the 8th grade I thought I was this big hard ass and I'd run around in raggedy jeans, beat up Etnies or Airwalks, and flannel shirts. Plus pounds of black eyeliner around my eyes. There are NO pictures of me from this time period however, thankfully. No one ever believes that I looked like this though b/c I am a super girly girl now too.

Didn't read the thread so this may have already been mentioned. Hypercolor and Skidz were pretty bad.
Proud to say I haven't had a fashion faux-pas since middle school though!

I was a lil' tomboy in elementary and junior high. As a matter of fact, I dressed better than my brothers did.
I did the multicolor socks too--if I had a red and black outfit, I had the red and black socks to match. Sometimes 1 red/1 black, sometimes both. I also used to tie my t-shirts in a knot in the back--with and without the little clips!! I did stirrup pants, leggings with the lace at the bottom, biker shorts with the stripe and the shirt to match, acid wash jeans, muticolored shoestrings, and coordinated accessories and nail polish.
In high school I followed everybody else and wore Abercrombie, AE, Old Navy, and Gap. I loved my AE overalls (wish I could find 'em now!!). Senior year I lived in pj pants, sweats, Adidas slides, and t-shirts.
I'm so glad I finally evolved into the fashionista that I was meant to be!!

Past fashion mistakes:
1. Can anyone say wind suits?? I totally rocked those in 6-7 grade!
2. When I was growing out my bangs in 7th grade, I didn't know what to do with the long stringy pieces. Now, I am still not the best with hair but I am certainly better than this--because I hair-sprayed them to the side. Yes, hair-sprayed them to the side.
3. I definately went punk in 8th-9th grade: huge pants, huge shirts, chain/ball jewelry, what I considered to be "ironic punk" eyeshadow (ie, bright blues and pinks). Today I can still rock the colored eyeshadow but only because I am a makeup goddess and I have learned about something called BLENDING.
4. Huge-ass glasses til I got contacts junior year of HS!
5. Shorts. I DESPISE shorts for any reason besides working out.
6. I LOOOVE makeup and nailpolish. I am like, the queen of these. Ok, so one time I tried this thing I read about in cosmo that was supposed to make swirly nail patterns (your pour two colors into a glass of water and dip your fingers). IT DOESN'T WORK!!! Never try this.
7. Farmer's tan. Even growing up on a farm is no excuse! (Which I did!)
Current fashion mistakes:
1. Right now I have no springy clothes at school except for my party clothes and tshirts, so I wear a Pi Phi tshirt like every day. I guess that shows spirit, though!
2. I definately rock my boyfriend's oversized fraternity tshirts some mornings.
3. I don't like belts, so I don't wear them. I think they're uncomfortable. I know it's bad, but whatever.
4. I paint my nails every Sunday, so by the weekend, they're always chipped.
5. I buy stuff from Wal-Mart, Goody's, etc. No one ever knows!
6. I have a fake D&G shirt.
7. Wal-Mart flip flops---with EVERYTHING!

OMG! To put this in the right perspective, it WAS the '70's.
I used to buy my clothes at the "head shop". ( Granny gowns and peasant tops.) Well, I bought a pair of pants that were striped in several shades of orange/yellow/red. Honestly, it looked like I had a sunset running up to my arse!

LOL! The seventies! I must have looked great with bone-straight, waist-length hair!
And justamom, did you --like my sister and I--wear white or frosted lipstick in the sixties?Or bright fishnet hose--or go-go boots?

No go-go boots, but frosted lips AND racoon eyes...remember all the white under, over and around the eyes???
Plus, I had really long hair so I took a little braid and ran it across my forehead. OH, and don't forget "flowers in the hair", yep!
Now Carnation, how low did your hip huggers go and how tiny was your halter top. I have pictures!
sshhhh-Did you ever paint a flower on your face?
