She is Miss America 1973 Terry Anne Meeuwsen. She went to a school where the chapter is closed, but it isn't mentioned on any websites with info about her. Maybe we aren't allowed to use her name or she is no longer a member. Hmmm a mystery indeed. One site said she dropped out of St. Norberts, maybe she never initiated. I am now quite curious.

A mystery indeed! I remember seeing her name in a list of GLO Miss America's. Would that I can remember the others!
And Stan, I think that your choice of words is what riled the ladies of GC. There are phrases that one uses among other men, and there are phrases that ladies prefer to hear. "Gentlemen's Club" or even "Strip Club" would have been much easier to accept. [/soapbox]

OK, then. Back to the original thread...
I mentioned John Galbreath on the "most famous in your chapter thread."
Quickly, for those who didn't read it, the late Brother Galbreath was a national real estate tycoon who owned Kentucky Derby winner Darby Dan, and also (with his biological brother Dan) owned the Pittsburgh Pirates. Very well to do gentleman.
When Karnea, the Delt international conference, was in Columbus, Ohio several years ago, Brother Galbreath invited the entire group (just under a thousand, I think) out to his estate, Darby Dan Farms, for dinner.
I wasn't there, but have seen a picture -- pretty impressive.
Now, back off the original thread -- why do people find it necessary to use terms that are almost certain of offend? I can understand misunderstandings, but I will never condone the used of language which will purposely offend someone.
Grow up. Fraternity men are supposed to be gentlemen.

Well so did Tom Johnson, former President of CNN. That's a vote that a lot of the Grand Chapter voters are not very proud about. It was as far as I know a unanimous thing with all of our Southern chapters that year.
2 years later they did vote to desegregate though.
I'm proud they did desegregate and ashamed that we were EVER segregated.

Hum somewhere this thread got really off track, but if we go back to my original question Has any of your past alumni or Famous Alums does anything really cool or out of their way for your chapter or Frat/Sor?
Something else that I thought of was Amy Grant on one of her early CD's has a song about friends that is about her time in THETA.

Gloria Loring, AGD
Gloria is a wonderful singer and used to play Liz on Days of Our Lives. When I lived in Houston in the mid-80's, she came one weekend and walked in our Juvenile Diabetes Walk (event hough she had a horrible cold or allergy) and then emceed a fashion show fundraiser!! I had always admired her on the show, and even more when I found out she was a sister!

First off, Jerzee boy is correct, Senator Richard Lugar comes to our annual convention and currently is the spokesman for the Men of Principle Initiative.
Things our local alumni do that is cool...
We have a rush event at one of their houses during the summer. One of the alums (from Witchita State, but now helps us out since he lives here) is a really high paid doctor, and his house is really nice so that's one place we go. Also, several of our chapter alums are Executive officers for Gallup and they also have really nice houses and we went to one of their houses for the rush event this past summer.
We also, one night during our I-week, go have dinner at the home of an alum with our pledge fathers. That was really fun for me last year, just getting to hear what Beta had meant to him and his life. There were about 12 alumni who hosted us last year, and that is cool and very generous.
