All the GLO's I know give pledge names, maybe it's a NorthEast type of thing.
Hey that's a good question, do southern schools give "pledge names??"

33girl: Are the fraternity & sorority set for the new season? I read on a SHSU sorority website (I believe it was www.siglamb.com or .net) that they were being interviewed for the new Sorority Life. Could be completely random...who knows?

Side note: I'm not from a southern chapter, but I did have a pledge name. It was chipmunk, because I sound like one when I laugh.

As someone who spent 3 years in the greek life system at a SUNY, I'm most anxious to see how it is portrayed.

Regarding pledges that are 21, it does happen, at least it does in the environment I came from where freshman weren't allowed to pledge. We had quite a few transfer students who would plege in their junior year. I was only 19 at the time, but I pleged as a second semester sophmore. A lot of the girls who pledged my chapter during my college years were between 19-21.

I'm really sad to see the end of this chapter of Sorority Life end, but at the same time it'll be really cool to see a piece of my own college system!

re: pledge names

We didn't have pledge names, but rather sister names that were revealed the night we became sisters. Some were obvious, some had stories....and for some the reasons are secretive (ie. they relate to some secret parts of our sisterhood)

My sister name is Plum (which is why my screen name is sisterplum!)....I got it cause when I was a pledge my then-very-new sorority didn't have a ball. The Alpha Gamma Delta chapter at our school invited our sisters and pledges to their ball and I went.....I wore my prom dress, which was purple. My sisters thought I had planned it (I didn't) but my prom dress and my cell phone were the exact same shade of purple!!!! Hee hee! I'm the biggest purple fanatic around...and thus the sister name of Plum!

Can't wait to see the new season of Sorority Life (and Fraternity Life too!)
