Its often the couple of girls who kind of "slipped in" that end up being president or a real Polly Pi Phi. There are certainly exceptions, but this has happened multiple times, so I just sit back and smile during rush when I hear about how we just HAVE to get so and so. Kind of funny, in a nice way.
I couldn't agree more!!! There is always a pledge that everyone loves, and kisses their a**. Then somewhere along the way, she doesn't get her way on something, and she is OUT THE DOOR.

We haven't started recruitment yet (I'm so trying to be PC, so forgive me if I screw up), so I don't quite have any real rush crushes yet. But I'm really excited to get to know Annie (Shark in Skirt) better and see the girls that are going through recruitment!

As for former crushes... my sophomore year, during my first time on the "Active" side, I had a LOT of rush crushes! Vanessa, who was my counselee during freshman orientation, was my #1 crush... She preffed Gamma Phi and ended up being my first lil! I love her so much! Of my other crushes, the two I preffed were Jacque (who was a friend of my former best friend) and Hillary (absolute DOLL!). Jacque went AXO because a lot of girls she cheered with were AXOs and Hillary went Pi Phi bc. her roomate did... but she ended up de-pledging and joined Sigma Kappa last year with her roomate and I couldn't be happier for her!

Last year, I was a Rho Chi and I had TONS of rush crushes! I was in love with almost my entire Rho Chi group (17 in the group, 8 went Gamma Phi!), and the one who had a huge crush on ME (even though I did my best to get them confused on what chapter I'm in) ended up being my second lil sis!

We'll see how this year goes... I have a few girls who were orientation counselors this past summer that I'm in love with and have become crushes, but I'm not 100% sure if they're going to rush yet! Grrr!

The first year I was a rusher I had one rush crush, but she cut us early on :-( My second year I was taking the MCAT and didn't do all the nights, so I didn't meet that many girls... No rush crush.

However, When I rushed I loved all the girls I met in Chi O. I had met some of them outside of rush and was amazed that those girls were in a sorority. I didn't have a good image of sorority girls at the time, and seeing women that I knew were wonderful and accomplished in one sold me. I was downstairs in the kitchen of my house (not a sorority house, just a dorm house) when I ran into one of the girls who rushed me. She graduated 3 years ago and I was so surprised to see her! Turns out hre sister lives in the dorm. Imagine, a legacy right below me!
Awesome to see old friends.

I had a couple rush crushes this year; one girl I wanted SOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad and she went ZTA but I don't know if that was her first or second choice because I preffed her and she seemed to like Chi O a lot... however, it doesn't matter either way because she's happy at ZTA. Which seems to often be the case--The ZTA chapter here and the girls in my house are practically interchangeable personality-wise.. that's a good thing in my opinion

Anyhoo, the other two I didn't get to talk to very much. I absolutely loved this one girl after talking to her for about five minutes, but she had that effect on every girl that talked to her and she's a happy Chi O now. We both love little buckles on shoes... but anyway

The third I talked to for what must be a record-short time, but she was SO nice and made somewhat unique comments about our living room decor (compared it to Titanic time period and started talking about period dresses... it was so cute ) She is *super* sweet and so I was pumped that she joined our house--and then she became my second little sister!

So all happy endings there

Greek love~

Oh my God......I and my close friends were insane with rush!!!!!!! The "rush crush" phenomena started for me as a rushee.....my Rho Chi hung out with these other Rho Chis and being naive, I assumed they must all be from different chapters or else they wouldn't be allowed to hang out together all the time. Well I was convinced that my RX was a DG, which was fine with me because I was really hot on them, especially the first 2 parties. So then I decided that one girl was an Alpha Phi and the other might be a DG or a Chi O......anyway when I ended up going Chi O I thought Shannon (my RX) was going to be upset because I knew she really seemed to like me.....I was the only girl in my rush group to get Chi O and she just acted kind of strange about it. So then when they revealed.....ALL 3 OF THEM WERE CHI Os!!!!!!!! They laughed when I told them what I had thought they were, and they told me that they thought for sure I was going Delta Gamma (which is funny because I didn't even preference them.)

On the other side of rush, my 3rd year this little girl came in the house and I fell in love. She looked like a baby, just this sweet, pretty little thing. She was very preppy and had this white-blonde hair (but not fake, REAL blonde hair) and rosy cheeks and the bluest eyes you have ever seen in your life that weren't fake. She just looked so sweet.....she was like a little ray of sunshine. We HAD to have her. I can't go into detail without revealing privileged information but suffice it to say that I completely hijacked her from another girl and I personally took her around for the rest of the party. I rushed her every party after that and I worked it HARD.....she was leaning between us and another chapter and she was THAT girl that every chapter wanted that year........but whose little did she become shortly therafter?????!!!!WHO'S YOUR MAMA!!!!!!!!?? Hee hee.

One last story is that my senior year, I was hanging with my girls at the first party (there was a group of us affectionately called the "Posse" who were inseperable) and these little rushees came in. This one girl was just darling, with this perfect little bob and perfect little bangs, and she wore a lavender Polo button down with a long khaki skirt and bucs......she looked like a soccer mom and she was only 18!!!!!!! Anyway my friend Lori took one look and was like "She's yours.....go get her, Tiger." And this rushee was hanging out with another girl, very athletic, tall, with a very short platinum bob-type haircut....Lori took one look and was like "Mine!!!!!!!" So we zeroed in on them and after that party, Lori's tagline was "I want to make love to 'Susie Smith'...." My crush, Ashley, was a big fave too. She was very nice and composed beyond her years....my little (see rush story above) rushed her too but it was to no avail........(sigh) We lost her and Lori's crush to Delta Gamma (gggrrrrr.) On a side note, Ashley ended up marrying one of Brent's fraternity brothers, and we were invited to the wedding. When I sat in on bid matching last week there was at least one advisor from each chapter there.....I had been hearing about this darling little DG advisor who always showed up in twinsets and pearls late at night when the other advisors were in t-shirts and sweats........I'm there and the door opens and in walks Ashley!!!!!!!!!! I was dying!!!!! She told me that she remembered our conversations from rush!!!!!!!! (I remember what she wore but I have no idea what we talked about.........sheesh) She asked me about Laura, my little, too. It was kind of funny. And true to form, she was there in a pink twinset, tweed slacks, and pearls when the rest of us all wanted to be in our PJs...........love her!!!!

Ive an interesting RUSH/ crush story that turns out a little differently than you might expect. I loved this girl that I met during 3rd round and we had similar majors (working with children basically was the link)...I talked to her forever during that round it seemed like b/c we had so mcuh to talk about and we just kept chatting away. I was so happy that pref night I walked in to the room and when they called my name she walked up to take my to the table...we talked about mroe during pref and never had a dull moment. it was awesome. I am sad though b/c I never see her now that I joined that sorority and she was going to be the big to one of my closest friends in my pledge class until the pledge dropped. I never see her or hang out with her anymore and its so upsetting sometimes. I have seen her a few times but she's so busy and we have different schedules but whenever we see each other we just talk and talk and talk forever about different stuff. So my rush crush story as a PNM is a little different than most but still it worked out wonderfully b/c she was one of the two main reasons I joined that sorority and she knows it!

My sister J would get the worst rush crushes every year. I mean, they were great girls we all liked, but she had a bad case of it! And the sad thing is that none of them ended up in our chapter, and she would be so devastated - we'd have to really work to convince her to come to bid day and pledging.

So, you might want Ms. Rushee for your chapter, but don't let it get too out of control!

I seemed to end up with the anti-rush crush. There were girls I liked, but more often there were girls I wouldn't have ever, ever wanted to be my sister. The girls who came in and said, "I'm going to join Mu Mu Mu. This is boring." ... until my senior year when I had a major rush crush on this girl down the hall. Everyone liked her. Then the Greek life office screwed up her invites. They told her she was only invited to one. She was devastated. I was paired up with her for pref ... and she didn't come. Yup, she was on our list, it was our invite they screwed up, and she was really invited to two parties. She ended up not filling out her bid card and pledged the other sorority next fall. I don't think she ever really believed us that we had truly invited her and the office screwed up.

I only had one rush crsuh. My first rush as an active I met this girl who was so cute and tiny and had these little chubby cheeks. And she was so sweet when she talked. She was a total Laura Ashley kind of girl. Unfortunately, our house was definitely NOT Laura Ashley. But I would always tell everyone how much I loved her, even though I am totally loud and goofy and silly and she seemed such an opposite from me. But my sisters went with me and we invited her to Pref. BUT, she didn't come! And on Bid Night I saw her in an AZD shirt! Which, ironically enough, was the house I preffed the semester before.

That same year we had a girl going through who everyone loved. She was very cool and had a great sense of humor. So they matched me up with her for 3rd round because "Kathy makes everyone laugh". I spent the whole time racking my brain for something witty to say. When she left I was like, "I don't think she laughed once!!!" The other sisters must have made a better impression, though, because on Bid Night her shirt said XO!

I was a Recruitment Counselor this year and I abosolutely loved it, I was obsessed with my girls. They were absolutely fantastic. We said no purses and like one girl brought a purse cause she absolutely HAD TO HAVE IT, which was fine. All of the groups had tons of girls bring like tons of giant Prada and Kate Spade purses...HAHA. Anyway, I we had these two girls both named Dana who were the sweetest girls ever. I knew after the first set that they weren't going my house which was fine cause i just wanted them to be happy. They both had great rushes, lots of parties, great houses. They both loved DG and put it first on their bid cards. Anyway so my and my RC partner get a call early morning bid day from Pan Hel (other RC's out there know what those are like, haha). Dana #1 didn't receive a bid! I was heartbroken! I had to call her and let her know, it was the worst thing ever! She didn't want to be snap bid or COB so she's a GDI now but I saw her the other day and I gave her a big hug, she's such a sweetie. I figured that she just got crosscut. Anyway so speed forward to like 4 in the afternoon when Pan Hel and all the RCs meet. Liz (my RC partner) and I looked at all of our girl's bid cards to see what they got. Most girls got their first or second choice (with 3 getting Alpha Chi!!!) and Dana #2 had gotten AEPhi which was her third and we were like uh oh....so we meet with the girls and hand out bids. We tell them that if they want to decline their bid they need to tell us right now. Dana comes up to me with tears in her eyes and declines her bid. I wanted to die! I felt so bad, she'd wanted DG so bad! AEPhi is a wonderful chapter it just wasn't the chapter for her.
There was this one girl in my group who is a UA cheerleader and the cutest thing ever. From the first say I was hoping that my girls would rush her hard, and they must have because now Molly is a Alpha Chi Omega!

this rush was the first time on the other side. as a newcomer i didnt know what to expect, but when the second party started and i was kind of getting used to it, i had found my rush crush. she had black curly hair and had a great personality. we clicked on so many levels. i told my sisters to rush her hard, because i had found a great one. when the days went on i always had the time to stop by and say hi,(but that messed up the whole rotation thing, cuz i talked with her for the longest time). when preference rolled around i was devastated that i couldnt pref her, cuz one of my sisters had pin order over me!!! my rush crush didnt end up being a sig kap, but an agd(another great chapter).
maybe if i had a chance to pref her things would have turned out differently. oh well...we still got 32 amazing girls!

My rush crush was this tanned, skinny, wiry little girl with a mop of white-blonde hair, a big smile and big light brown eyes. She was on the dance team at school and a pageant queen and was learning to play the fiddle because she wanted to be a country singer! The best part was that this girl was a total tomboy- she had lots of older brothers that, as she told me, loved to push her around. The first thing she said to me when I met her was that I had really pretty hair! Then she went on to tell us that she was really excited about our house because she'd heard lots of good things about us from her friends. She was the coolest thing ever and we invited her back to pref even though she couldn't be there that night- she had to practice for the football game that weekend. Sadly, she didn't end up in our house but I'm not sure if she's in any other houses either- not going to pref can hurt you like that, especially when the competition is strong. I hope she didn't drop out of rush, but that may well have been the case- plenty of girls chicken out right before the big day.

Wow, this is the thread I've been waiting for!

Last year I graduated from high school with hopes of joining a sorority in college. I attend a college in my hometown (yep, I'm a local, or townie) and have been hanging out with "college kids" since sophomore year. I kinda had a little bit of info on each of the 5 sororities on campus, and had a really good idea of where I wanted to go.

Over the summer, I went to a friend's friend's house and met a ZTA at my school, Marlene. She tried to rush me, but I was pretty sure I where I was going in the fall.

My first night during recruitment, I went to the ZTA room and Marlene was my "guide." We talked for a few minutes before she realized I was the girl she tried to rush over the summer, and we hit it off. The second night, Marlene was my "guide" again. On the third night I recieved an invite from 3 sororities, ZTA, a sorority I DID NOT want to pledge, and the sorority I really wanted in! Marlene wasn't my guide this night, but sent a few of her closest ZTA's to rush me. I had met a few of them that spring at a fraternity formal, and they talked to me a little about that, but I still wasn't convinced that I wanted to go ZTA. The sorority that I wanted in so bad promised me a big (dirty rushing) and I was SO EXCITED.

The next morning when I went to except my invites and choose where I would go that night, my "choice sorority" did not extend and invite to me. I was SO CRUSHED, but ZTA did offer me an invite to Pref. Night and because I didn't want to upset Marlene, I accepted.

That night when I went to the ZTA room, I was paired with Marlene again, I KNEW that ZTA was where I needed to be! She never promised me a bid but said that if eveyone else saw in me, what she did, that I'd be running over the hill the next day. She also said that she told the New Member Coordinator that the ONLY way she'd take a little, would be if it were me.

The next day, I got my Bid from ZTA, and I WAS SO HAPPY!!! Marlene was the first person I ran to! I couldn't be happier that I went ZTA. Honestly, I think that if I would have went anywhere else that I wouldn't have stayed in a sorority.

Marlene is my big sis now, and thanks to her, I made the BEST decision of my life! THANKS MO!!!

My rush crush this year was a darling, spunky, smart girl who I fell in love with right away. I talked to her during every round of recruitment. She did wind up in ADPi and she is now my Diamond sister (little, in non-PC terms). So I basically had the perfect recruitment experience this year!

I've had several rush crushes, and a few of them ended up going Alpha Chi I did have one last year that I fell hard for, but she ended up going to another house. Now that I see her, I can see that she is extremely happy there. I was crushed when her name wasn't called out on bid day, and it was even sadder to see her run to the house next to ours. But I know she's ultimately happy, and that's what matters

Something else funny: When I met my first little during recruitment, I thought she was a total snob. She wouldn't look anyone in the eye and didn't talk too much, and she was very sarcastic (I am a sarcastic person, but not during recruitment). I kept wondering why she was coming back, and one of my closest sisters accidently got her for pref (someone outside had lined some girls up in the wrong order). Despite the fact that the name on her carnation was the wrong name, she ended up becoming an Alpha Chi. Once I really got to know her, I realized that she wasn't a snob at all, and first impressions are often wrong.

This fall was my last rush as an active and on the first night at open house I met this little blonde girl who was kinda quiet... but when I talked to her so was soo interesting... she had travelled to Japan, she shared my love of Legally Blonde and shares my love of pretty much all things "girlie" so we're talking and I'm thinking that I really like this girl and she says "I went to all the websites, (national) and I found and I like you all the best" I was kinda taken aback and thought...but was excited she was already excited about Phi Sig... I kept telling people to meet her all week and kept introducing her to everyone all week. Ne way I ended up preffing her and she ended up joining (YEAH !) and she is a marvelous addition to Phi Sig, she didn't end up being my little (some one else snagged her) but we hang out a lot and I I'm glad she chose Phi Sig Actually she posts here sometimes so if you're reading this you know who you are and I just have to tell you THANKS FOR EVERYTHING you have contributed to the chapter you are a rock star !
