HI there,
I was a founding sister for my chapter at CSUDH. We started from the ground up and became the first NPC sorority on campus. It was a lot of hard work but I believe it was one of the best experiences of my life.

I am also a Founding Sister from the Iota Gamma Chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma!!! (@ CSUDH)
And like Carolyn said, it was A LOT of hard work, but well worth it!! We've won a lot of campus awards, for various things like... (drumroll please) Organization of the Year!!! Yeah for us...
If I had to, I'd do it all over again in a heart beat! Just seeing how many ladies have become sisters since our founding... It's really quite awesome!
To anyone that will be colonizing, re-chartering, or starting from scratch... Good luck!!! (take lots of pictures---you'll want to remember it later!)
Fraternally,
Beth

founding father
My colony is in the process of getting our charter. We are at 39 brothers and only need 11 more to finish our requirements to charter.

Founding Sister of the Gamma Omega Chapter of Delta Delta Delta
1st pledge class of a local Alpha Theta Phi (only cause I didn't know they were forming a group!!)
It was awesome- esp having the national pres/executive board act as your pres for initation, and all the sisters who didn't know us, but still came to help us initate.
I don't know about anyone else's group, but we had trouble getting recognized at my school- so my best advice would be to stick together as a group, stand your ground, and don't let anyone tell you "give up- it won't happen".

I'm a founding member of the University of Alaska, Anchorage colony of Alpha Sigma Alpha. We're hoping to sign our charter in November. If we do, we will have gotten our chapterhood faster than any other GLO on campus!

i've been lurking this site for a loooong time now, but when i saw this topic i had to reply.
i'm a founder for my sorority; i'm assuming that when i say founder i don't mean it the same way as i suppose a national GLO would, meaning i didn't charter a group... we really did start from the beginning. without giving away the name of it, or where i go to school, i do have to say that it's an awesome feeling when the first class became my sisters. also, knowing that in the future if/when we expand future sisters and chapters will always know my name. it's a lot of hard work but i feel that all of it pays off, especially the respect i get from other greek orgs.

Time and effort
I am a charter member of my undergrad chapter at Texas A&M, Lambda Lambda. It took time and effort to get to charter status, but it was well worth it!!!
