I really hope distance doesn't matter this year.

It was actually a combination of things last year.... distance being the contributing factor to most if not all of them...
Since it takes us at least 5 hours just to get as far as So. California, our members look at almost an entire day of travelling in each direction (stopover/connections included.) We do it for Convention, but Convention is held over the summer... when missing classes isn't as big an issue because most of our members do not attend summer school. We also couldn't afford it. Airfare from Hawaii doesn't come cheap, and unless there just happens to be a fare sale during December/January (heavy travel period, so not likely,) we pay full high season fares. We don't have the bus, train, or car alternatives members who live closer have.
While there was no doubt in our minds that ACT had lots to offer our chapter, we just didn't think it was fair to ask us to pay so much money and ask the members to take off time from school to go so far for what is supposed to be a 2 day conference.
We were very fortunate to have a Leadership Advisor available to hold our very own ACT.... and because of it... our entire officer team was able to attend.
Unfortunately, it looks like the dates are smack in the middle of the semester again... Kentucky is no closer to us than Oklahoma... and this time... we won't have a Leadership Advisor as a back up resource... Ronda graduates in December and will be heading back to Alabama.
Can you just see the disappoint on my face right now?
