There are a couple of guys in my chapter that smoke when they're out at the bars, but that's about it. I don't smoke at all, and I never have and don't think I could ever date a girl that smokes either. Makes kissing a girl unappealing.

I'm not a smoker. I think it's nasty.

I don't smoke, and I'm very sensitive (allergic) to it. When I was in college, no one in my sorority smoked until one pledge class. About a quarter of them smoked. All of a sudden a lot of my sisters smoked. Many of them have quit now. I still can't stand being around smoke.

My dad smoked from the time he was 15 until October of 1993, when he was 46. He stopped the day that he had an angiogram and was told that he had 25% heart function. He died 8 months later in June of 1994 of a massive heart attack, while getting ready for work.

I would not touch a cigarette with a 10 foot pole. I'm so glad to see states like NY raising the taxes on them. Not only are they harmful to the smoker's health and those around the smoker, they're just plain nasty. I hate going to bars because I come back smelling terrible. Plus, they cause so much litter.

Cigarettes = bad

The state of Pennsylvania is raising the taxes on a pack of cigarettes from .33 a pack to $1 a pack. After the increase, PA will be right behind NY in the price of a pack. But, this tax doesn't take effect until July 15th. My local news did a story last night on how smokers are buying 5-6 cartons before the tax increase...

Althought almost everyone in my family (outside of my father) smokes, I do not smoke. I hate the smell of smoking and I hate the way people look when smoking.
And what the hell is a social smoker? You either smoke or you don't?! I think this "social smoking" is just for people who want to look cool out at the bars or at a party, that's real cool.

I hate cigarettes and I can't stand when people smoke them around me. One awesome thing about living in Vancouver is that all restaurants and most (if not all) night clubs have banned smoking inside. As far as my chapter goes, if you are a smoker you are in the minority. We give our smoking sisters a tough time: whenever they light up we ask how's the "cancer stick"?

I envy collegians who don't smoke!

Me? In my delinquet psychotic junior high years, I smoke in 8th grade. I quit in high school when I started playin tennis. As soon as I turned 18, started up again. My dad used to smoke ALOT, until he had angioplasty surgery. He quit cold turkey as soon as he got out and can't stand smoke. My mom still smokes but not around him.

Smoking relieves me, and it's a social thing at our school. I have a sister who gets migraines when she's around it for a long time, so she had to quit her job... at a bar! But it's all for the better. Do I wana quit? Yeah, but it's hard when ALOT of people in your chapter smoke too.

I don't know...I did fr a little bit from Seniorin HS thru Sophomore year, but I ws thinking about whether I am a real smoker, and whether or not I'd wantto be a smoker as I grew older into adulthood.....a esounding 'no'......so I decided never to smoke again, and I haven't.....I guess my resolve made it easy for me...I wish it could be that easy for everyone.

I don't smoke. I've tried cigarettes a few times, but all they ever do is stink up my breath. I've tried cigars a few times... a cigar and a glass of cognac is pretty nice but it's not something I would do on a regular basis. I won't let people smoke in my house or car, either... I send guests out onto the deck to smoke, even in January.

I started smoking in 8th or 9th grade.......I did it socially on and off up until I started dating Mr. Soul. During college, especially when I lived in the sorority house, I smoked like a freakin' chimney. It was pretty much a sorority chick rite of passage when I was in school. I still rarely see a college-age girl out at a bar who doesn't have a cancer stick dangling from her fingers. Now of course I wouldn't touch them,.....but I do like an occasional cigar.

Ya know, I am not one to go clubbing -- I am a partying gal. Well, tonight I went to a club for the first time in months. The club was super packed, but I only saw about 10 people smoking. It really sucked because I did not take my lighter with me and I swear, I walked around for like 30-45 minutes before I found someone with a lighter!! Perhaps this is a sign! I have been trying to quit.

Question Do I Smoke

Well, let me put it this way, I own Tobacco Road Smoke Shop in Kansas City, Ks.

The 1 st of July our Moronic Legislature voted at 4:00 in the AM to increase the Tobacco tax to $7.00 per carton!

Great non smokers may say but when you are just a 20 minute drive from the Mo side, that has a $1.70 a carton tax, guess what, the people go across the State line!

Since the 1 st of July, I have lost 20-25 % of my business and dont know how long I can hang on. Bills stay the same dont you know!

In 2000, Philip Morris along paid 19 Billion in taxes to the Federal Government, more than anyother Company in the USA! Then, just add RJR, B & W, Lorrilard, and Liggett well I think that comes to around 50 Billion $$$$$$!

OKAY, If people do not use tobacco, just where in the hell do you think the GOVT. is going to get the $$$$$ from? Da thye just raise all taxes!

Our Govt.'s are run like ENRON, and WORLDCOM but they will come back to the tax payers to get that money! You will all be taxed!

How many people are getting cut off at the knees and are out of work because of all the overspending and waste along with the White Collar crookedness!

Tobacco was the first cash crop in America, and it is still imported around the world!

There are sub generic cigs that are made in other countrys, but the rub is that the tobacco and everything else that is in a cig. is shipped there and put together and shipped back and is cheaper. Can you buy a TV made in the USA? NOT!!

How about, clothing, shoes, radios, computors ETC!?

Let us be like Kuwait and hire everything done outside the country and go broke depending on others!

Did anyone know that when they say unemployment is down, one can only be on the unemplyment rolls for so long and then you are deleted? Hell it makes us look good but in the mean time more people are losing their jobs.

Knock out the Tobacco Industry, you lose the growers and the people that work for them, the truck drivers that move the product, the Manufacture, the wholesaler and the RETAILER plus all of the people that work for them!

If you do not want to smoke good for you! I salute you!

If I walk into a resturant and ask for the smoking section, and there is not one, I walk out!

For those that dont smoke, what do you do after sex, have a meaningful conversation?

There are more dead people in cemetarys that did not smoke than did!

There is my $7.00 tax increase worth!!!!!!!!!!

Talking

I smoke "socially." Usually around finals time I find myself smoking as if I were a regular smoker. However, I'm back to this system I have of not smoking on the weekdays, and only smoking on the weekend, Friday and Saturday night.
