smoking?
Ok I have a question, how many of you smoke (cigarettes and other)? I'm just curious, because I found that out of my soror friends and non-soror a lot fewer of my sisters smoked than the others did. just wondering.....I dont smoke personally.
|
In my chapter, its totally different... At least 5 of my sisters smoke. I know that it presents a bad image to PNMs if all they ever see is a sis with a cigarette in her mouth. But, I know that one is trying to quit. As for me, I socially smoke, usually 1 or 2...
|
Suprisingly, none of our girls smoke regularly, but the bar-smoke is quite common. I don't smoke, ever.
|
I smoke, although I do not call myself a smoker. When I think of someone as being a smoker, I think 5 cigarettes a day, but I generally smoke only 1 a day. :) (I know, I know. I just don't want to call myself a smoker :p) Of my sisters, I would say that about a fifth of my sisters are either smokers or social smokers (who are always smoking anyway).

Me smoking? NEVER! However, I am curious about weed, but I heard it KILLS brain cells. Something I DON'T need!
|
I'm a smoker...and I go through a pack every day and a half. I also usually smoke more on the weekends when we go out.
Hawaii just put a ban on smoking in restaurants that went into effect on July 1st. Thankfully it hasn't affected me too much because I tend not to smoke while having a meal anyway. We're still allowed to smoke in bars or other places where alcohol generates 75% of the profits. When I was a collegian..there were maybe 2 or 3 other sisters that smoked. As a funny gift, my sister-mom used to shower me with Benson and Hedges during my New Member Period. My sister-mom, my sister-grandma, and my sister great-grandma all smoked too. |
I never smoke cigarettes.

NO SMOKING FOR ME!!!!
I hate the smell of cigarettes. Actually, and this doesn't make any sense, but I've heard others say it too, but weed is more tolerable. I don't smoke that either. No drugs here. |
I smoked for almost 10 years..but i quit in january, and i'm 167 days and going strong..the thought of smoking actually makes me kind of sick..
When I was in college there were probably about between 3-6 other smokers while i was active..but it was definately not a significant amount of the chapter |
Not a smoker...hate smoke.
|
I don't because when I was a teenager, my dad--a surgeon--waltzed into the house with slides of the insides of smokers' lungs as opposed to those of nonsmokers. He described how you can just peel tar off the insides of a smoker's lung.
You guessed it, none of us kids ever touched a cigarette after that. |
Carnation, I had a similar experience.
My friend's father is a pulmonologist. He came to school several times with some ex-smoker's lungs preserved in a jar of formaldehyde or something. We had cancerous lungs, emphysema. They make things so colorful in there. That's not why I don't smoke though. I find it to be a disgusting habit. I wouldn't even date someone that smoked. Did once but never again. |
I remember when I pledging my sorority there were 15 active sisters and 7 pledges.
Out of the 15 sisters 7 of them were everyday smokers and 2 of them were social smokers so NINE total. Holy crap, that's a lot! Out of the 7 pledges only 1 smoked. That was 6 years ago...now I think there is only 2 smokers in the sorority. |
the term 'social smoker' is nonsense. you either smoke or you don't--it doesn't matter when you do it or how often.
i don't smoke, but i did for a while when i was like 15. i thought i was so cool. now i know what a dope i was. smoking kills. nothing cool about that. plus, you smell REALLY bad and nothing gets rid of that stench (no matter how much you clean your car or clothes, a non-smoker can still smell it, trust me) |
Not a smoker either...and actually kind of allergic to it if exposed for too long. In college we had a few girls who smoked and unfortunately the number seemed to be going up when I graduated :(
