I own both a VCR and DVD player. I prefer the DVD because, there is more footage, like interviews when you rent movies, I am able to go skip to different parts of a movie and I don't have to sit and wait and rewind stuff. But there is a DVD player that records like a VCR, but it is quite expensive. They are around $600-$1000. I bought my DVD player at Walmart for $99 by Apex and it is great so far.
