They still have DNA tests to do before they can officially claim that the body is Chandra Levy's.

As a personal friend and a neighbor of Chandra's PLEASE change the topic of your thread. There is a chance it may be her's but there is always a chance that it is not her. CNN and the Washington POst are reporting that they aren't positive it's a woman's remains. Yes, there was a female sports bra found but still...
Please show some sensitivty.

This whole situation is so sad. I am glad for her family that her body was found. At least now they know.

So sad. My prayers are with her friends and family. One of my sorority sisters who is about Chandra's age is currently working in politics in D.C. and lives in the same area that Chandra did. She is rather concerned... Apparently, there have been 3 women who disappeared around the same time Chandra did -- in the Dupont Circle area of Washington, D.C. Some people there believe it may be a serial killer. So far, one of the missing women's bodies has been found. And now Chandra Levy's as well. So very sad.

its very sad that they found her body... i had hoped she would eventually be found alive...
i don't know if i'm just a cynic, but i almost feel like chandra's body being found at this time is almost a wag the dog effect (for those of you who have seen the movie) like washington and the white house wants to take the whole spotliht off themselves and how they royally screwed up with the whole ignoring the 9/11 signs and warnings and put it on somebody/something else so as to get people talking about something else and not jeopardize W's place in history as the "heroic" leader of a nation put to the test and to keep his approval ratings high... its probably just coincidence that the body was found now, but when i heard thats one of the first things that popped in my head...

Even though most people were certain that she was dead, it is still shocking for her remains to be found. At least now her parents can have a proper funeral or memorial service for her. I just hope that whoever the sicko is that did that to her gets what is coming...
IowaHawkeye, it is funny how things worked out that way, isn't it...the timing is likely a coincidence, but the inquiring mind does consider that a possibility.
I would be interested to find out the forensic results with regards to whether or not her body has been there the entire time, or if it was placed there much later...

seriously guys...
Ok, while this may sound really bad, I feel like it needs to be said. Condit was a very powerful politician...had they found her remains during the heat of the scandal, his career would be hands down over and done with and he'd be sent to prison. But....we've had a lot of disastrous occurances in the past year or so, so our attention (as media consumers) has been diverted. It's still a big story that her body has been found, but it's not as huge as it would have been, say, 10 months ago. I personally believe that somehow Condit or one of his associates somehow convinced the cops to half heartedly search....or.....someone (Condit or not) has been seriously hiding her all these months and then just now kind of dumped her (for reasons I stated earlier). Nonetheless, I find it all incredibly creepy and I pray for the Levy family that they may one day find peace amid all the tragedy.

The Washington Post started a 12 chapter investigative report of/on the cold case of Chandra Levy's Murder.
One may have to sign up/register on WP's web site (free) in order to read it.
About This Series
The Chandra Levy case captivated the world. Last year, The Washington Post decided to find out why her murder remains unsolved.
Post reporters Sari Horwitz and Scott Higham from the paper's Investigative unit were assigned to produce an in-depth reconstruction of the case that would reexamine all avenues of the investigation. Sylvia Moreno joined them from the newspaper's Metro staff. They began by interviewing those closest to Chandra: her parents, Robert and Susan Levy; her aunt, Linda Zamsky; and friends in Washington and in California.
The reporters also spoke to the key police officials in charge of the case: former chief Charles H. Ramsey, former executive assistant chief Terrance W. Gainer, former assistant chief Alfred J. Broadbent and former chief of detectives Jack Barrett. Also interviewed were U.S. Park Police officers, a former FBI agent and a federal prosecutor involved in the case, as well as other women who were attacked and accosted in Rock Creek Park around the time of Chandra's disappearance, on May 1, 2001.

The only thing interesting about this case is the fact that the media showed (again) how it can manipulate people into believing something completely irrelevant is important.
