I am a fairly new alum, but I still wear my letters. I also have a bag sort of like the one on ebay with the stiched letters that I carry to work with me. My big got it for me at a different school's greek store, so I can't help you out on that. I would check the various website's that sell Greek stuff, you may find something that you like. I also have a windbreaker with embroidered letters that my big also got me (yes, I was a VERY spoiled little ). I still wear that all the time. I can't wait for it to get a little more springy here in PA so I can break it out for the spring-fall seasons. Now to wrap up my ramble and answer your question, I think it's definitely appropriate to wear letters. You just got initiated. That's the most exciting time to wear letters. You also definately need a set of stiched letters. You'll wear those forever. Have fun shopping for A Xi D stuff. Let us know what treasures you get.

TFJ!

Xi Love,
Mindy

I'm 25 and still wear my letters, etc. Of course, they're not dressy enough for work, but on weekends and when doing outdoorsy stuff, yeah. I do sometimes wear my pin to work.

It is very appropriate for you to wear your letters. I'm nearly 50 (good grief ... did I say the big 5 0??) and I still wear shirts with letters. I wear t-shirts that I've gotten from conventions and carry bags with letters. I have a really big one I got several years ago that I carry with me to my son's chess tournaments with all the stuff I'll need for all day (books, food, and needlework).

Its always good to wear your letters ... you never know who might start a conversation.

Talk about starting a conversation! I wore the most beautiful sweatshirt in the world - that Paige made me - out this past weekend, and I got so many compliments on how awesome my shirt looked I love it Paige and I am so appreciative to have received my very first piece of Alpha Xi wear from such a good GC friend!!!

This is good to know!

I have often wondered how appropriate it was for me to wear my letters (after being an alum for about 15 years). It's good to hear of other alumnae proudly wearing theirs! Whoa! I've got to go out and get some new shirts!!!

Sarah, I'm so glad you like the shirt. I had fun making it for you. Does the pale yellow look good? I've always done dark blue shirts with light blue and gold letters.

Does anyone think there'd be a market for shirts with hand stitched cross-stitch letters?

I think that there is a market out there; I've tried both cross-stitch and applique for sweatshirts, but I've found that with the time I have invested in each and money for supplies I'd have to charge enough that it would probably not be competitive with some of the other shirts I've seen.

Kudos to you if you decide to make a go of it!

Xi Love,
