Do understand that as, I assume, a sophomore, your options may be limited. Most chapters prefer freshmen. I hope you have a stellar g.p.a and extracurriculars other than your previous sorority.
I'm taking online classes to boost my GPA. I was REALLY involved in high school and in college, I was constantly doing clubs. I don't think I want to put my old sorority on a resume though only because I don't want put a bad taste in anyone's mouth. As far as saying I can go through rush does that mean I can only do rush or can I actually join a sorority at a new school?

Take it one step at a time. Identify the universities in which you have interest, apply, and see if you are accepted (and if so, what courses will be accepted for transfer.) As a general rule, if your previous school is accredited, and your new school has an equivalent course, it will be accepted. So typical freshman courses such as English 101, Biology 101, U.S. History, etc. are very transferable. When you get that ironed out, *then* worry about recruitment.

When you get to recruitment at your new school, don't put your previous sorority on your resume. If you really, really want the sorority experience, then be advised that Ole Miss is one of the toughest recruitments in the country. Coming in as a 20-year old, you would be very fortunate to get a bid to any chapter at all there. Honestly, that would be the case for even moderately competitive recruitments at other universities, much less Ole Miss. It's unwise to go into recruitment as an upperclassman thinking that you are interested in only certain chapters, because those chapters are looking at the 17 and 18 year olds with packed resumes and connections.

Have you looked into how much a sorority costs? At a school like Ole Miss it's thousands of dollars a semester. It's a big financial commitment. And I don't think you can pay dues with scholarships.

Find the college you want to go to based on its academics, apply, get accepted and then think about Greek life.

What would be the point of letting you go thru rush if you aren't allowed to join? Your questions and situation are very odd. I think you need to get accepted at a school and then come back to ask questions that truly apply.

If you are thinking about Ole Miss, something to consider…there are more legacies going through recruitment for many sororities (maybe all of them) during Formal Recruitment than quota. That is not to say that the pledge classes will be comprised of legacies exclusively, but that is what young women are up against when they go through Recruitment at Ole Miss.

My questions and situation aren't "odd" at all. Saying "Nothing is stopping you from rushing." can be taken as you can rush but not join or you can rush and join, they never specified. But there are still a lot of great benefits if you just go through rush, you're able to meet girls you probably would have never met and the networking opportunities are incredible. Also my situation isn't odd it's a really common one for most college students, only a sorority isn't usually involved.

Oh trust and believe I know! For Kappa Delta I'm going to get letters of rec from my cousin and a different cousin's girlfriend (both were KD at their schools) even though that doesn't make me a legacy it's still good for them to see I have family in the organization. I also want to get some other letters of rec for other chapters I've been doing my research on (Phi Mu and DG) hopefully it will keep me in mind even if I'm not a legacy...I'll just have to stand out a lot and make sure I'm giving it my all haha!

Recruitment doesn't work this way. It's been said and explained why to you, nicely, and more times than 1.

You can't just get recs to any chapter and think that means they'll scoop you right up. It's Ole Miss, EVERYONE has recs. Recs don't make you stand out, they're all but required in an SEC recruitment and having them doesn't make you special or unique.

Though since you're so gung-ho on KD, you might have a chance if your rec comes from Leigh Anne Tuohy

Please step away from the keyboard, MNB717. You have said way too much.

Spend time reading through the extensive threads here on recruitment, not just at Ole Miss, but everywhere. Good luck to you wherever you go to school, regardless of whether a sorority is in your future or not.

Your situation, if you aren't a troll and I'm not convinced you aren't, is odd in the reason that it is weird enough in the way you e explained it for this thread to be used to identify you. You do not want to be THAT girl on GreekChat. Seriously. Say thank you and goodbye to us now.

She might be a SKEPi legacy. I think they consider cousins as legacies.
