I think you and CG are talking apples and oranges. You're talking duplicates and sequels. Based on the way I read her post, I think she's taking remakes. Ex: original Django Unchained vs the remake of Django Unchained.

I know she's talking re-makes. The point is that the CGI dinosaurs looked stupid compared to the dinosaurs in the original. They went way too over the top with them.
I think the same would happen with a 'Jaws' re-make.
What made 'Jaws' a great movie was the mystery of the shark. You rarely saw it. The point of the movie was to build suspense. And the few times we did see the shark, it looked real enough.
I don't think a re-make is necessary. Just my opinion.

I know they just did it, but it was nothing like the book so I would like a proper World War Z please.

Ok. When you said "additional" I didn't take that as a "remake". I also think it depends on who the remake is done by.

LOL. Morgan Freeman > Tyler Perry
I'm not a fan of remakes. I enjoy a few of them but prefer originals.

Karen Chance has some awesome books and short stories that are all set in the same world, but involve different characters. I thought the short stories would be the best to make into a TV show.

Not likely to happen but I'd like to see some of my favorite fantasy series made into movies. Anne McCaffery's Pern, L.E.Modesitt's Recluse or Imager.

It seems like very few years they tease us with the promise of a Pern movie, TV show, or RPG video game, and it's never happened.
I remember really liking Tolan's Welcome to the Ark book as a kid. I'm not sure how well it would hold up over time, but based on what I remember, it could be a good movie. It's supposed to be part of a trilogy, but she's been working on the third book for over a decade now.

That the series was originally written in the 60's-70's by Author Anne McCaffery certainly impacted dragon biology. Don't think modern sensibilities would be able to wrap their minds around the bodice ripper aspects of the mating season.

I am looking forward to the Outlander series on STARZ.
I would like to see the Deborah Harkness books (A Discovery of Witches, etc.) made into movies.

According to IMDB.com the 2nd book in the Mortal Instruments series is being made into a movie but who knows how accurate IMDB.com actually is as I guess City of Bones didn't do so well in the theaters. We shall see.
As for James Patterson, it is more I wanted different books made into movies and it isn't any of his series books. The individual stand alones I enjoyed more like Swimsuit or Kill Me If You Can. As for the ones made into movies/TV movies, I loved Kiss the Girls but hated Sunday's at Tiffany's.
I'd really like to see the continuation of the I Am Number 4 series made into movies, but like City of Bones it didn't do to well in the theaters.

Kiss the Girls was my least favorite of the ones I've seen. THAT needs to be remade. The movie had so many things wrong with it in terms of the story and characters. Alex Cross is a young guy, with two young kids, living with his grandmother, and yet Morgan Freeman was the best option?
James Patterson has a way of building suspense in a book that is really hard to match in a movie, hence the reason I don't want them turning any more of his books into movies; not until someone finds a way to get it right, anyway. I always go in expecting a 'Silence of the Lambs'-type thriller and I leave disappointed every time.

LOL. In the 1980s-1990s it was either Morgan Freeman or Denzel Washington because those were the mainstream Black men actors under 50 yo. In the 2000s we have more options. LOL. How did Tyler Perry get the gig?

I'd love to see Stephen King's "It" made into a movie. It was a made for TV movie, and I think Tim Curry did a great job as Pennywise the Clown, but it could have been a lot better. The book was scary as hell and the only one of Stephen King's books to give me nightmares!*
