What crazy hazing rumors have gone around your campus?

and the most wide spread rumor is of a fraternity that filled a bathtub full of water on the third floor of their house and pledges had to get the water from that tub down to an empty tub in the basement by filling their mouth with water and running downstairs (without swallowing or spitting) and spitting the water out in the tub in the basement.

my friend had to sort sprinkles for her sorority when she pledged. she told me they had a blast though. and her boyfriend's (ex now) fraternity DID make them empty dirty bathtub water into a toilet bowl.

it's funny because i see you're from PA and this happened at a school in PA. i wonder if you're at the same school...

Some of these stories are making me LMAO. The circle the fat and goat one fly around here too, but I figured those ones do everywhere so I didn't put them down. I think they were in movies, so that's probably why everyone's heard of them. Since some people put down some pretty vulgar ones, I'll tell the whole story with the basketball thing. Whichever soroity is unlucky enough to be the chosen doers of this for that year make the girls strip down naked and sit on basketballs. Then they pop a porn tape in the VCR and they have to sit there and watch it until the basketball's wet. It is the most disgusting thing I have ever heard of, although the biscut thing was pretty bad, too. Ewwwwww! How could anyone want to be a member of a sorority/fraternity that bad??? Not me. For all you members that said you know some of this stuff is not rumor, did you graduate a while ago or are you still in school now? I know my school was really bad about it years ago but they have cracked down to where it is nearly impossible to get away with anything so no one does. I hope some of this stuff doesn't go on! I guess I just can't imagine how being a part of a greek organization is important enough to humiliate and degrate yourself. Well, keep 'em coming, I am laughing so hard reading these!

I've heard the "circle the fat" one too, but it was from a chapter advisor. No one on my campus did that. (that I know of!)

Unfortunately, (and I hate to introduce a somber note into this discussion, but...) the "let's see how much you can drink" DID happen on my campus, and someone died. The pledges of a certain fraternity (that I will not name) were apparently told to collectively drink a certain amount of alcohol in one evening. One of them drank most of the amount (his share as well as several of his pledge brothers' shares), got sick, was not properly cared for, went into a coma, and died a couple of days later. He had a BAC that equated to 16 drinks in his system - and you metabolize 1 drink per hour - so he'd had a LOT to drink.

I'm just glad my sorority, as well as all other NPC sororities AFAIK, have a no-alcohol policy.

I know for alot of people the swallowing a goldfish rumor is just that, but back when our chapter started, girls used to have to on their hell night. If you look at our old albums its in there. But we definately are the non-hazers now... we dont let anything happen!

yeah that happened in my chapter back in the days when we were a local...food fights were quite popular also. Ketchup, syrups, eggs, mayo you name it. We cleaned our attic early in the fall and had a good laugh at the pictures...and a grossed out shudder too! YUCK!

Yes a fraternity on campus here does make the guys spend the last week of initiation at the house and they can't change their clothes or return to the dorm. I know this is true because I used to date the President and I have four sisters that have dated guys in this same fraternity. I don't think this is a bad hazing personally. Because they aren't harming anyone. Well unless you sit next to the guys in class.

This is not really a hazing rumor, but it's kind of funny. A fraternity here makes their pledges carry around their pledge books at all times in the waistband in the back of their pants. So I was sitting in the library one day and I heard the alarm at the door keep going off (It does that if someone walks out with a book). I looked up and this pledge was trying to leave but the people at the circulation desk wouldn't let him go till they were satisfied that he wasn't stealing anything. He took everything out of his pockets and kept trying, but nothing worked. It was hilarious to watch him try to figure out what to do about his pledge book because they wanted to see it and he wasn't allowed to show it to them!

Wow....most of these are true on my campus.....

One sorority makes their pledges do "Kegs and Eggs"
Another makes their littles carry around bricks and answer to their name with ridiculous phrases...one girl had to say "Who me? The b*!ch with the big, big titties?"

The fraternities here do the most homo-erotic things ever. And wouldn't you know the worst offender is the one with the most macho guys?

I know that these are all true because everyone is friends with everyone at Bethany, and people have spilled to me. What I think is funny is that some PNM's won't pledge our house b/c we don't do things like this. They say pledging here doesn't sound like "fun"??!!!

At Duquesne, my roommate pledge a sorority where they pretty much controlled her life. She had to eat with them every day, could only go to class if she was with another pledge, had to address all sisters by their full name and say their hometown whenever she saw them, and look down as a sign of deference. She came home crying every night. And what she told me isn't all of it....

Another sorority at Duquesne did do the circle the fat, masturbate on a basketball things....the girls who pledged this house lived next door to me. Plus, they came to get them at 1 AM, made them dress like whores, and walk the streets of Oakland asking anyone if they were "looking for a good time.'

Ick...I'll stick with my "boring", non-hazing house!
