At our campus they sort of have a mixed reputation, with a little more emphasis on the bad side. Unfortunatley, I have to be honest that girls in my chapter and theirs fight a lot. There is a BIG rivalry between us. Because they let in a lot of girls who are open about getting around, it gives the rest of them a bad rep. I do have several friends in their chapter that aren't like that, but the most visible ones are, so they are all lumped into that category. Our chapters usually fight over the best girls and usually we get them. I don't know where they are on the quota thing, but a lot of the girls who join drop out. This past semester was better though, I think no one did. One of the reasons I don't like them is because they are dirty rushers. When I went through rush they were sure that I was going SK and when I didn't they were upset. One of the girls who did was always telling me that they hated us and they wanted me to quit my sorority and join them the next year. I wish that we didn't have to have that relationship, but I guess it has been that way since way before I came to school.

We no longer have SK on our campus. They had a bad rep when they were here.

In KY I know of four chapters.
The one at my school has low numbers and is constantly struggling. They just lost their house and are looking for a new one, they even offered to buy one of ours (we have two) which was really embarressing to them. I know their president very well and she is so awesome. They have a few girls that give them bad names, but they are working on that. The hardest part for them is the name calling, and during rush two rho chis were telling their girls how horrible they though Sigma Kappa were, but they got busted on it and had to pay a fine. I wish them the best, but I don't see it getting better in the NEAR future, hopefully down the road.
At Georgetown University they are what every girl wants to be during rush. They are considered the pretty girls, some are considered the rich daddy's girls, but honestly that is from jealousy. I know every girl in another chapter that I know there wished they were a sigma kappa on bid day. They are very strong and all of the fraternities love them
At the University of Kentucky they aren't doing too well with numbers, either. They are getting better the past two years. One of my friends got a bid from them even though she didn't COB or go through formal and they even gave her lettered shirts. I found that really odd. She still has some SK shirts and I have told her she shouldn't wear them, but then again I don't think they should have given them to her.
At the University of Louisville they are down to earth and kind of quiet. They are not the most outgoing or obvious on campus, but they are there and they do contribute some. I just think they need someone to believe in them.
THat is all I know about them here.

I didn't say my school because I didn't want it to somehow get back to them or something, but I guess you guys could easily figure out my school if you really wanted to... It's Longwood College in Virginia.

I hear ya SSS1365. I could have figured it out. I just didn't feel like searching and my SK book is packed away right not. Anyhow, thanks for the information.

Unfortunately the Sigma Kappa chapter at FSU closed in the Spring of 1999. I'm not totally clear on all of the details but I think the girls decided to go alumnae and then revitalize the chapter in a few years. The chapter was starting to turn back around but they were really struggling for quality girls. They had an absolutely gorgeous house though which was occupied by SAE (before they were kicked off campus) and now houses ATO. I'm not sure if they are just renting out the house or if it was sold.

Sigma Kappa came onto Elon's campus the year after I rushed(1998)and they have done EXTREMELY well since then. They always do an amazing job at rush and I know that AOTT is always competeing with them for girls. I also have a close friend in Sigma Kappa whom I just adore, so I am a big fan. The only small complaint I had was when they were a colony, they seemed to be able to get away with a few minor things(not really hazing--just some questionable actions) because they claimed they were new and didn't know. After the third time, it was kind of hard for some of the other GLO's to take, since we knew we would have been busted hard core and had no excuses taken. But this was in the first two years--they have been great on everything since then!!
