I can only give quality advice about formal recruitment at my school. Here there are 4 chapters and 2 rounds of cuts and quota is 25

The chapter I want or GDI. If I can't be there, I'll drop out of recruitment. There's nothing wrong with that

Your choices are your own, but advocating it for PNMs in NPC recruitment, especially when it's something you know nothing about, is bad form.
Not to mention "top chapter" is relative. And "top chapter"(s) don't stay that way forever.

I understand that that is was a faux pas and I regret bridging the topic. I started by saying that I can understand someone only wanting to join the top chapter at a specific school.

Ignoring the derailment by the troll and replying to the OP:
First consider that you are writing on an Internet Board where the majority of posters are already in GLOs. We have been through both sides of recruitment and we come from diverse collegiate experiences. Think before you hit send. I agree with ree - you came across as a snob and no amount of back-pedaling can change the fact that for most people "perception is reality." The Internet doesn't give second chances.
Second, you are contradicting yourself. What exactly do you mean? Your responses strike me as equivocating.

I love how there are always OPs that come online, beg for help and advice, and then when they don't get the response that they want, they say that GC is full of judgemental and rude people.
OP, these ladies and gentlemen (Ok, 99% of these ladies and gentlemen) know what they're talking about. You're not the first one to have issues like these. They won't blow sunshine up your hoo-ha, but they will be honest with you. So why don't you step back, take a deep breath, and try again. Maybe if you explain your situation a bit better and don't get snippy, these lovely ladies can help you better.

No, I know what university this is. It's real.
To the OP: as far as joining a sorority right now, no group wants a member who rejected them before, and now wants to be a part of them just to be Greek. Think about how you would feel if a guy asked out every girl in school to the prom, they all said no, he went to another school and asked all those girls, they said no, then asked his cousin and she was busy...THEN he asked you. That's basically what you're doing if you take a bid now.
Take a semester and get to know women in ALL the sororities outside of rush and go through formal rush again next fall. You are really not a good candidate for membership right now.

For once, I actually knew what university this was, too. OP, stop posting personal info on the internet. It's not hard to figure out who you are from this info.

If potential sorority members, especially at larger, competitive schools dropped out of recruitment if they didn't get their #1 choice, there would probably only be 1 or 2 chapters at these schools.. if that.
If you randomly polled 100 sorority women on this site, I'm willing to bet at least half of them didn't end up at their first choice (or in the chapter that for the majority of recruitment they thought was THE BEST EVER).
It's. not. the. same.

If a woman says she will be in "ABC sorority or nothing", I can understand that. That is a feeling that can transcend gender. So if a PNM drops out of recruitment when she is cut by ABC or XYZ, I don't feel ill will towards her. I understand.
You don't think there are women who would rather be independent than be affiliated with their second or third choice? Thats the point I'm trying to drive at. If the OP feels this way, more power to her
