Those are closer, but as a matter of personal tastes (and what we would see on pref night on my own campus), I prefer these:

Red One This one comes in other colors - but maybe only black

LBD #1

"Silver" * I would say this is silver-ish

Navy (this one comes in other colors)

Right. Red or Pink tags means it's from the Junior's section. I would avoid the Junior's section or clothes that come in odd sizes (3, 5, 7, 9) because it's likely not appropriate.

I'd also avoid stores that sell everything in odd sizes.

At Target, the misses section clothes have black or gray tags (the price tags on merona clothes are gray, I think, but the tag that has the size in the back are black or white) and are in even sizes (0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 22). "Misses" dresses are usually a little longer (remember - it's best to try it on first) and a little more appropriate for this type of situation.

I was looking at the website - the formatting is all off for some reason. That could be why no one saw it before (for me there was a big white space then if you scrolled down the item was at the bottom). I did see some dresses online though that did look like they could be appropriate.

Please avoid the gold lame' dress that's up though, thanks.

all those links just go to the Target homepage HOWEVER, I HAVE found some very nice semi-formal type dresses there before. So I won't discourage you :-)

If the title of the page has something like "merona women's twist..." scroll all the way down to the bottom - I have no idea why Target's website is so funky.

Must be the whole intertubes are having a formatting error tonight.

The navy is my favorite! I especially like it with the cute belt.

I might just have to get myself one for only $30

All the dresses agzg would be good examples of what to look for if you are getting a pref dress from Target.

Do be sure to try things on, and if you order online give yourself enough time to send them back for a different size if the first one doesn't fit. I've called my local Target before, too, to see if they had an item I saw online in store. Usually they did and they were always helpful.

You can also return items bought online to the local store, whether or not they carry it locally.

Best idea, though, is if there's a Target in your area, check it first. That way you can try on and not waste your time on dresses that will be to short or fit weird (and Target really does have a very finicky fit).

Time problem solved, then. So to the OP, Target might just be the place to go after all.

I also buy a LOT of my accessories there, so if you find the right dress, it can be a one stop shop if you need shoes or jewelry to go with it. My local store at least seems to have a pretty good selection year round and it's usually easy to find things that look exactly like what I see in boutiques, for wayyyyyyy less.

I saw some really cute shoes at Target the last time I was there.

Particularly if you like flats (I really do).

Well I was planning on hitting Target for some last minute items anyway so I'll check there to see if they have any good dresses as well!

Thank you everyone!

Navy one is my favorite and IMO the most appropriate. Good work, great price and you'll be able to wear that one again.

Hi am rushing this semester at University of Miami and I am a sophomore. I really need some help in deciding what to wear for preference night. The rush guide says semi formal/cocktail dress but I am not sure what that is. I would really appreciate the help! Also is this dress to formal?
Thanks!

Without knowing what school you attend, I'd say it's a bit racy for Pref.

Like I said in your other threads, it's too bare, too short and too low cut. Dress to impress other women, not to attract guys.
