It is really me who is posting. Sorry for the confusing. I am just writing in third person. If you guys would like me to write in first person instead, I'll change my writing style. Just let me know.
To clarify, I am registered as a PNM at my school and I plan on going through the whole recruitment process, and hopefully being offered a bid. My mother actually doesn't know that I am rushing. I don't think she even knows what Greek or sorority means.

Your Mom doesn't know? That seems like that might be an important piece of information to share with Mom. There is some expense involved with sororities. Plus, what if you just need to talk to her during the week? I think I might re evaluate that decision.

Well, I tried to tell her but she didn't understand. My siblings and cousins all know. Truthfully, I don't talk to my mom that much, it was more my siblings who raised me and who I go to for advice. Money issue, I have saved up some money over the summer, plus I am going to get a job at school. Also, my sisters said that they would help me pay if it was something I really wanted to do, and that I could pay them back when I get money.

My theme for this thread will be off of the t.v. show "Greek" considering I think that show is awesome.
Here are the code names for the houses which are characters from the show who are in sororities:
Casey
Rebecca
Ashleigh
Franny
Laura
Betsy
Jordan
Beth
Jen K
Brenda
Abby
Mandi
Lizzie
Robin
Tegan
Libby
Katherine
Janette
Natalie
(I'll color code them once there are less houses to choose from)
Yeah, pretty overwhelming, but I think I'll be able to handle it. Recruitment is 7 days long spread out over two weeks.
Day 1: Orientation
Day 2: Open House (first half)
Day 3: Open House (second half)
Day 4: First Invite (13 houses)
Day 5: Second Invite (7 houses)
Day 6: Pref (3 houses)
Day 7: Bid Day!
If you know what school I am going to, or who I really am (I created another account because I revealed too much in my other one) please do not post it on here. I don't want to jeopardize my chances.
Wish me luck!
A milestone has hit, 10 days until little Anya will be heading off to school. The whole summer she was waiting and counting down the days while wondering why the numbers lowered so slowly. Now that the final days at home are before her, she is worried. She still needs to buy a few things. She still needs to pack all of her possessions into cardboard boxes. She still needs to say goodbye to her friends and family. She needs to fit as much summer as she could into her final days. Anya realizes that she should have treasured each minute of each hour of each day rather then marking them off. The girl would be moving 3 hours away to Cyprus-Rhodes and would not return for more than a month. She can see that her mother is hurting inside, with one daughter headed to Undergrad while the other to Grad school. Anya's sisters are trying to prepare her for the homesickness, while not understanding why she would ever want to join a sorority. Anya can't admit to them that she would truly miss having a huge family all living near her; that she would need a set of friends, or sisters, to become her family away from her family; that she would need a home away from her home.
Anya has been receiving mail and emails from Cyprus-Rhodes, but none of much importance. None are from her school's Panhellenic Council. She is nervous about recruitment. She is trying to soak up as much information as she can before heading off for Greek life. But all she can think of now is "10 days left until I'm alone."

I believe the story has gone from being told by the PNM to being told by her mother
I smell something fishy...

Sorry. I like telling stories in the third person and I feel it makes the story more interesting. My name is not Anya, just a code name so that people don't know my real name. Sorry, I should have explained this in my first post.

I think it would be easier to understand if you just wrote in first person... then you wouldn't even need a code name. You could just refer to yourself as "I" the entire time.
just my opinion though.

Rush!!! Day 1
So today was my first glimpse into sorority life. I started to get ready at 4:40 and left at 5:30 to go to "Building" for my Rush Orientation. I didn't really know what we would do or how long it would take. As I left I saw all these girls really dressed up and I was just in shorts and a t-shirt. As I got outside, I saw a great migration of girls just walking in the same direction. I knew I was going the right way.
None of my friends decided to do Formal Rush this year. One is thinking about Informal or just waiting until next year. It seemed that all the girls were walking in groups. I knew I should have talked to the girls on my floor! I saw them getting ready, but they already made their clique. As I walked a girl asked me if I was going to the rush thing. She was by herself too so we started talking. She is really nice. She is a transfer student. When we got there we were split up by our last names so I didn't think I'd see her again. I walked up the steps thinking these are my first steps to Greek life. I stepped in and saw two rows of girls holding papers of names and numbers. One girl waved me over and I gave her my name. I was in group "#". I started towards the auditorium when a girl handed me a flyer and raffle ticket. They were raffling off a "cool item." I saw a girl who was in a row by herself so I sat down and started talking to her. She wasn't really peppy and didn't seem like she wanted to be there. So I texted. Another girl came and joined us. She was more entertaining than the first, but she kept ending the discussion. Luckily the presentation was starting.
I could tell right away that the Blank store was endorsing a bit of this year’s rush. They played a commercial about cheerleaders for "1 thing" saying "Other thing" was number one. Then two girls gave a presentation about the "Other thing." It was lame. Then they gave out the "cool item." 1-2-2....damn! Oh well, 3 numbers later a girl walks up not looking that excited to get her prize. Next others girls talked about basically nothing. Finally someone interesting came up on the stage.
A lady came up and started talking to us about the whole rush process and what we’d feel and what we had to consider. She stressed the 3 C’s: choice, community, and change. She was a pretty good speaker. She said there were 3 types of people who rush: the prisoners, the vacationers, and the explorers. She said if we got a math problem right the prisoners could leave…1000+1000+20+1000+40+1000+30+1000+10=6000. Wrong. 5100. The prisoners were still stuck. The speech ended.
They called each group out one by one. I got up at # and headed outside. That’s when the rain started! Our group started running to the Subject building, but other groups were running, too. Half of my group got lost, so we were late to the meeting. Another Gamma Chi found us and told us where to go. When we got there, we realized that our group had like 60 girls in it. They went through basically everything. We got a bag full of goodies including a rape whistle flashlight with a built in compass. At the end we even got an umbrella which helped with the rain. We went through the PNM book which was helpful. They made us write a note card with 8 things on it. Then we were told to make 50 more when we got home. I didn’t even have note cards! We got our recruitment numbers and left with people from the same dorms. I got home at like 11. I packed my bag ready for tomorrow’s rush and went to bed!
*Disclaimer* Anything with "---" has been changed to keep my identity a secret.

Well, I told them...but they didn't understand. I have money saved up and I looked at the dues and I think I can pay this year's with what I have. I already have a job lined up for the summer thanks to my friend.
