@the bolded: Because that's exactly what I was told!

My friends all wanted to try it, but I didn't. They were trying to convince me, saying it wasn't like smoking cigarettes. Even the shop owner said, "There's almost no nicotine in it--it's really more like flavored steam." That's what convinced me to do it. I had no clue that wasn't true and I'm very glad I only did it the one time (I didn't like it much).

I used to have one and I can think of 10 people off the top of my head that have one.

Yeah, everyone always says "well you don't get the chemicals and stuff that cigarettes and cigars have."

Whether that's true or not, it's still an open doorway for organ problems.

The "no preservatives" argument was always applied to pot, too.

If you want no preservatives you can smoke American Spirits, or roll your own.

There are a number of smaller tobacco growers that produce additive free brown-leaf.

Smoking anything is bad. I own a hookah and treat it like a dessert...it's an occasional treat. But I probably wouldn't even do that if I weren't already smoking cigarettes. I hope to one day stop smoking anything, period, but I've never been under the impression that any kind of smoking is safe. It's just not.

Meh, it seems like it's as much of a fad as anything else.

yeah they go in and out of popularity. I remember my seinor year they were the big thing for a while, and then nobody had for them awhile, and then they came back into fashion it seems.

Some are good but I don't like some of the flavors.
