It was like watching a special episode of your favorite TV show like Real World or ANTM where there is a big trip every year. It was like-oh we're going somewhere for no purpose to do nothing really and stuf'll happen there.
Carrie-bitch about your husband b/c he's cold even though you knew that b/c he kept doing this for 10 years and stood you up at your wedding. Now do something that wouldn't break up a relationship at all in most cases and cause some drama over it b/c you're stupid.
Charlotte-Bake in a vintage outfit and then bitch because your pretty daughter ruined it and your ugly baby won't shut up. Don't even worry about that nanny. She's good at her job.
Samantha- You've slept with every man in the U.S. so let's go somewhere where sex is bad and then you sleep with someone there, got it? Good.
Miranda - Um... we gotta find something for you to do...Hold on.
It would've been fun with another cast as the female version of The Hangover or something. But with classic beloved characters who had previously developed aim and purpose it fell flat. SPK should've taken this script and done something cute with like Taraji Henson, Penelope Cruz, Sandra Bullock, and Lucy Liu (cos we need one from every general ethnicity) and just made a new female dominated series-potential film.

BabyPinkFL wins.
I can't believe I claimed to like this movie on 5/27 (opening day). DeNile is more than just a river in Egypt.

Oh, I don't doubt that it was a good film. It was cute, beautiful, hysterical, etc. My main point is that it was so detached that it shouldn't have even have been a SATC film. It would've been more suited to stars outside of the franchise, but staying within the same themes of fashion and excess and glamour.

Didn't know where to post this, but I really did always like Aidan better than Big. I never got the Big hype.

"I curse the day you were born!"
Sure, Aidan was always nicer, always treated her better, and proposed to her before the 10 year mark. But, Mr. Big was elusive and evasive--he had that THING (other than the money and the power) that made Carrie want more. I remember when Carrie first saw Mr. Big at that party and Samantha was trying to screw him. He was a sexy cutie to me.
Okay...yeah...I just love me some Chris Noth.

Yes, and I will take the bolded any day over Mr. "Hard-to-Get." I do, however, think that he was stupid for walking away just because she did not want to get married. I mean, she didn't even really rush to marry Big. Until the whole buying a home thing came up, it doesn't seem that she was thinking too hard about marriage at all.

Aiden was the classic too-nice guy. She would have ended up walking all over him and been miserable.
That being said, I saw the movie and considering what I've been missing more than anything is just that cozy stay at home feeling, and I didn't even have it WITH A GUY WHO LOOKS LIKE CHRIS NOTH, Carrie gets a big eff off.

Agreed completely! And Aidan was too homey for her, he had this outdoors-y vibe to him which was a huge contrast to Carrie's high fashion and high maintenance attitude. They didn't make a good couple IMO...
Man I am so ready for SATC 3 already!! Hahaha. I guess I'll have to just re watch all the old seasons instead

Everyone always sees Aiden as nice. And while I agree he was nice because it WAS very VERY difficult to love and trust her at times, I find him to be deceptive, selfish, manipulative, and self-serving.
This was their relationship in MY eyes: I hate smoking. Love my nature. Cheating? Torture. Marry me Carrie. Right now. No? Okay bye. Hey. Marry me Carrie. Now. No? Okay bye. Here I am like two years later loving life with the woman who was willing to marry me on short notice and have a baby. Yeah I wanted you, but she'll do in a pinch. I'd have married a dog to get married.
He was just always jumping into this and that and too conflicting with Carrie as a person. I knew that they were never going to work from day 1. He and his needs never properly fit into her life.

I think though that JC did a good job of playing Aiden as...I don't even know how to say it...like he didn't realize he was doing all that or that he was manipulating. Like he was just a 10 year old kid and following whatever popped into his head at the time.
Seeing as I know someone who's moving multiple states away and shacking up with a girl he until recently hadn't seen for 20+ years (after he was all up in my grill for a minute - I guess I didn't confess my undying love fast enough), yeah, I can relate to the type.

I love this thread. Here's my input:
1. If they do a SATC3, I will see it only because I am a member of the SATC fan club (or cult). I'm bothered by SATC2 but will like it more if I take BabyPink's advice and pretend it isn't really SATC but just random actresses.
2. I never liked Aidan. Never. I never found him cute. I never thought his niceness matched Carrie's personality and behaviors. I really think that Carrie needed John J. Preston (I just wanted to show off that I remember his real name ) to humble her and teach her that she isn't the hottest. His model wife who broke her teeth was hotter although she lacked the Carrie personality.
3. I liked Aidan more than the French artist Carrie dated right before she got slapped and ran into Big in Paris and he said "you're the one." I like the actor (dancer) who played the character, but hated the character. It was so random.
4. SJP is wonderful. I always thought that she's cool as Carrie and beyond her role as Carrie--eversince that old movie where she played a crackhead mom. In fact, I like all of the SATC characters and all of the lead actors and actress. Random confession, I know.

Okay, I saw the movie with girlfriends (yay!) Sunday afternoon. We were all looking at each other like, WTF? afterwards. Here goes:
1. I liked how they glammed Miranda up. She needed it! Charlotte is always and forever my favorite. Samantha needs to learn her lesson, and almost did a few times. Carrie I always want to slap because she loves the drama too much.
2. I can't see watching this movie ever again. I want to forget it ever happened. It was a bad dream. Now, it has made me nostalgic for the series AND the First Movie.
3. The gals all looked old. SO old. Cynthia Nixon probably looked the least plastic. SJP looked the most haggard of all. The guys all looked great. I LOVE Chris Noth so I would go to a movie that involved him watching paint dry.
4. Stanny would NOT have married that annoying brat Anthony! If he was THAT desperate for a wedding, he would have married, as he said, "a chubby patient girl."
The reviews were SO tough on the movie. I DO NOT want to watch movies about the recession! I'd rather watch something like this movie, where the characters are living large and being unapologetic about it. Also, I think a lot of the review writers didn't know about the NYC reality: I'm hardly in their world and I know plenty of SAHMs who have help AND I know couples where one person has kept their pre-marriage apartment, either as an office or (in Carrie's case) because the economy tanked and it wasn't the best time to sell. I feel like the critics should have focused on the fact that the movie just wasn't well-written, instead of how it was an "unrealistic view of life in this economy." Gag me with a Louboutin.
