There was a show like that on WE a few years back (Surprise on the Bride). The guy (with some input from a planner to show him venues and stuff that match his ideas) plans the wedding and the bride gets no input on anything. Then the entire day is a surprise.
Most of the time, the bride ended up happy. There was just one I remember being super unhappy. She wanted an indoor wedding and her fiance choose a public park for the ceremony and reception. I think she cried. lol.
My fave are the surprise wedding episodes of "Whose Wedding is it Anyway?" The guy (with the help of a planner) plans the wedding. Then he surprises the girlfriend with a proposal AND a wedding on the same day (that she didn't plan).
So it's like "Suzie will you marry me?" Girl: "Yes, Bobby. I love you so much." Guy: "Well I planned our wedding and we will be getting married tonight!" *cue horrified look from Girl*
I've seen people have near break-up worthy arguments when they get their surprises. One girl practically ran from her bf (in the middle of telling her they're getting married tonight) and cried. lol. There were some girls who didn't care that much though.

Ditto! I mean I've thought about it and how much better could this get? I've always said that once I get engaged, I'm ready to be married, like, now. Also while I have ideas I cannot be bothered with the details of it all. I mean my friends and I will all get to wear pretty dresses on other occasions I'm sure, so what's the big deal about having it all set for one day. I am far more looking forward to a life with a future husband than I am for just one day. Although the likelihood of this happening is... slim, so I guess I would try to enjoy what I could about the planning (i.e. the dresses and food, haha) and try not to stress too much about the other details. A lot of weddings today have become glorified personal proms as far as I can tell, with little to no relation to the actual importance of the event.

Haha. I love that you're totally cool with that. I wouldn't care as long as I could pick my own dress and location (Vegas only).
The way some of the women acted, you would think the boyfriend had said "Ok but before we go any further, I have to tell you that I plan on having 3 other wives and two boyfriends. Plus I accidentally backed over your puppy on the way here!"

LOL. I would absolutely love to be surprised with a wedding on the day of the proposal. ONLY if we had talked about it enough that he would know what I'd like and what would send me screaming into the hills. If he chose a dress that balloons my waist, it would be game over.
I watched a YT vid of a woman who was proposed to at half time at a basketball game. It did NOT go well.

There used to be a show on TLC or one of those stations that had wedding party and families planning the wedding, and the bride and groom got to only give them a few tips in the beginning. I loved that show. Most of the time the couple was very happy, but occasionally there was a bride that ended up with a dress she hated, or a theme that she never would have chosen. The few brides who hated the dresses others picked for them really broke my heart and made me realize I could never go on a show like that if it meant I'd have to give up a decision like that.

One of the "Whose Wedding Is It Anyway" surprise episodes had one of the nastiest mothers I've seen on a wedding show. The way she carried on crying about every last detail and how the groom was depriving her of the wedding planning experience with her daughter and dress shopping. And then right before the wedding the mother gave her a big talk about how it's ok if she didn't go through with it.

I just imagined my mother picking out my dress.

I'd end up with the famous "see through top" dress from Pnina. I just know it.

Peppy, I loved that show too. Some of them were so painful though because it was obvious someone was steamrolling or just plain didn't have a clue.
My husband was going to try to pick out my e-ring by himself... I'm glad he didn't because he didn't even know what cut I wanted. At one point he was trying to figure out what cut I wanted and he described one as "half of a NASCAR race track, and then a straight line, and then another half race track, and then a straight line". After decoding this I said "you mean oval???" *sigh* You have to be the right bride, with the right groom, with the right supporting people (wedding party/family/friends) to pull it off. I'd go crazy.
I do like the general idea of Four Weddings... although I'd never subject myself to be rated (those poor girls who come in last!), I think it's interesting to see how people approach weddings so differently. It's like getting four wedding shows in one. Score.

The more I watch this show, the more I'm hating it. These women make some of the nastiest, unnecessary comments. If you go to someone else's wedding, is it really too much to ask that you're just appreciative to be there? THe things the other bride-guests say makes me want to punch them in the face. ugh..(sorry for the violent visual)

^^ LOL Sometimes, I really can't stand the guest brides. I especially hate it when they rank cultural ceremonies low because it was "too long" or in a language they couldn't understand. I'm sorry...but this is not your wedding.

The comments on Four Weddings can be really catty for the most part. However, sometimes the ladies really hit the nail on the head. There was one woman who had a wedding in the rec room in the projects, they ran out of food, and starting picking up garbage while the guests were still eating. Needless to say the brides had a lot to say about this wedding and she did NOT win.
