We're having our annual "Alumni Vs Actives" football game coming up in a couple of weeks, it's some of the younger guys, plus still some members from 10-15 years ago. Its a fun time for all, and just to place a little push on things, the losing team has to buy the keg for the after party.

Zeta Kappa chapter is hosting a get together at Hooters of the 10th of every month. A cool way to go out and mingle with alums, and support an establishment created by a TKE.

alums
Ya know...almost fifty years ago I was appalled, even as an
undergrad...the ignoring of alums. Especially KU (Kansas), an
alum was routinely snubbed. But it was not limited to any one
kind of chapter. And successive undergrads wondered why the
alums did not return...and continued to snub. We are trying to
turn the corner. Undergrads, take heed. We all knelt before the
same altar.
Wish we could implant the loyalty that, say, Beta Theta Pi or SAE
has...but, then, most of their chapters are located on campuses
which are big universities or private ones, not streetcar schools
or teachers colleges or extensions...a different type of alumni in
entirety. Alumni support is inherent in these institutions.
PLEASE, alums, get behind your chapter...let those days of the
ignoring pass into the past and begin anew. We need you all
more than ever. Help lead and take charge...deny all those green-teethed reporters & hateful administrators their heyday.
Drop by the house or come to a function. PLEASE...
You will learn anew what Yours in the bond means. YITB, EPC

At Delta Nu, we have really taken off with alumni support. Some support is accepted with open arms and some is resisted. None the less, any support is better than none at all.
The thing that got it all kicked off was the Active/Alumni Work Day that was held one month prior to the 50th Anniversary celebration held May 15th.
This Active Alumni Work Day is going to be an annual event. We had lots of tools, paint, cleaning supplies etc. donated by alums or they just brought a few things that they had in the garage at home.
We all met at the all greek pancake feed on a Sat. morning and then had a work crew meeting at 10 a.m. and posted the job chart. (The other greeks were sosurprised to see so many TKE Alumni at the Pancake Feed. That was kind of cool.)
(We also didn't allow any alcohol during the work day. As you can imagine, that kept everyone on task.)
By 4 p.m. we had all accomplished a ton
(new landscaping, new chapter room paint, new yard sign, lots of cleaning but most of all......the actives and alumni had a chance to bond!) Then we all got cleaned up and went off to an annual chapter event called "Senior Send Off." It was a cook out to honor each graduating Senior. There they each told stories in front of the group and answered a list of questions that were prepared ahead of time. (ie best memory being a pledge, best memory as a active, most embarassing moment, plans for the future etc.) I would encourage all TKE chapters to try this. It was great! (We got the idea on the PIKE HQ web site. It is under House work day.)
FYI, it may have just been a piece of the puzzle, but the work on the house most likely had an effect on their Fall Rush Success as they signed 34 new men!
Good Luck!

LBSU...
Here at Delta Theta, we have been bad with Alumni relations the past few years - we're definitely trying to get over that...
Many alums say they want to be involved, but are rarely kept in the loop in regards to the undergraduate chapter...
Also, our chapter was chartered in 1954 in a big mansion overlooking the Pacific Ocean (on Ocean Blvd.)...
The chapter lost its charter later on, but re-chartered in the late 80's or early 90's at another house on Elm Ave...
People automatically assumed there would be differences between "Ocean Tekes" and "Elm Tekes" (referring to the streets where the chapter houses were located), but it's even like that...
That's especially apparent now, because we have initation coming up this weekend, and CHARTER members from 1954 will be present... We're all REALLY PSYCHED ABOUT THAT!!!
We do have a few alums from 1991 that help out right now, but they're not as reliable as we want them to be...
GO BEACH!!!
