Wasn't Guantanamo Bay already closed? Didn't he just speed up our removal from the location? (I'm too lazy to search for an article).

But reaching out to those affected by our war and fixing our economy are two things he's supposed to be doing. As someone stated earlier, that's what he's in office for.

on another note, i see this as a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" scenario. he'll have people questioning his actions no matter what...

Yeah, I think this type of pace is pretty standard for new presidents. There's a lot of emphasis put on the first 100 days, so most if not all new presidents are a flurry of activity from the start.

As far as the health effects for Presidents - if you look at the before and after pictures, it can be pretty drastic. On the other hand, they also have the best healthcare in the world, and you see modern day Presidents living into their 70s and 80s, even later.

Their health is also scrutinized. Knowing such, someone (like Cheney) with known health issues isn't going to run. They pretty much have to have a clean bill of health going into office. We'll see if Clinton lives that long. He was known to eat horribly and has had heart issues since leaving office but is still pretty young.

Again, this is their job to juggle multiple issues simultaneously. That's why they are the president.

Well, being the POTUS has it's benefits too. Doctors all over to provide him assistance when he needs it. That is not to say that mental health care could NOT be improved, because Nixon saw a psychiatrist behind some people's back... Don't know how that passes the secret service. But President Obama is in a different day and age, and he seems like he has a very good mental constitution in himself, especially since he has lost a loved one on the campaign trail during one of the most toughest times in his life. He does smoke, so he needs to keep that under control. And they allow him to eat whatever, which I think he may have not realized it yet... Besides if you are the chefs for the POTUS, are you going to tell him no??? So, at some level he, himself has use caution and everything in moderation. I think President Obama can do it... How well, I am not sure... Only if he goes to some place serving him Hot Buttered Hagus with Voodoo sauced Chitterlings, Sugared sugar, IDK if I would want the American people to see all that...

But in reality, he can call on the WH doctors, FDA, PHS, NIH folks anytime he wants, and they can make the recommendations accordingly...

The problem is letting the silliness leaked to the media who go buckwild, in general...

I.e. who's trying to show up to that first pick up B-ball game...

Apparently on Inauguration Day, Aretha Franklin wrote a letter to Obama telling him to make sure he eats a lot of soul food while in the White House...

"You should put me on your advisory team. But I am serious if you are interested," Contactmusic quoted her as saying in the letter.

And her first advice concerns the presidential diet. "Eat plenty of good soul food, Indian, Hawaiian, Chinese, gourmet etc. Because as Dr. (Martin Luther) King used to say, After a good soul meal, I could go around the world on a meal like that," she said.

No, G-Bay should have never been opened, we should have reached out to the Muslim more than 100 years ago, and the economy won't be fixed by him or any other president, ever, but the general public is too stupid to realize this so every president since we went off the gold standard has been held accountable
