We do not have big parties and submit people's name into a computer database and pick randomly our brothers and sisters. Seeking membership is designed so that you realize the gravity of what you may potentially become a part of. And best beleive that many are called and even fewer are choosen to have the opportunity to become members. And that is exactly why BGLO's have their members stay active in their organization and pass thier love for their organization on into graduate chapters and their childrens. It becomes not just that organization they joined in college, it becomes a part of who you are. Maybe you don't understand that type of dedication because the most you have ever done for your organization is throw the biggest party with the biggest kegs.
And that is my 19 hundred and 8 cents on the matter.

To what type of organization was THAT comment directed? What "people" and "dog and pony shows" are you referring to?

Someone stated that most potential members of a BGLO know which org they want before they come to any informationals etc. I assume the potential does research on the net about the national group. But how does a person know if that group is going to be the one they click with on a chapter level? Is it more of the mindset that you're joining a national group rather than a chapter? Is there a way for a potential member to research a campus chapter without being indiscreet?

When you do research you go to the events that they are hosting, you basically be where they are. Get to know the members but not on a fake I am just gettign to know you so I can get your letters, but REALLY know them. It is true you shouldn't just walk into a chapter you know nothing about. If it is at all possible you should st least know of and be at the events that they are sponsoring.

And as I said, the Divine Nine DO NOT RECRUIT!! Point blank!! If an interest is working hard to gain membership into one of the organizations, then maybe at that point a member may just encourage them to continue doing so as they could be a great asset to the organization. But that would be after that person has already expressed and displayed a sincere interest in the organization. We are not going to try and make anyone see how great our organizations are and then just let them slide in. Interests need to show US why they deserve to be in these outstanding organizations. And having informationals/rush is not a form of recruitment. At the point these are held, most of the interests have already been working to show that that is the organization they seek. If it were a form of recruitment, then I would've been able to attend two or more of the Divine Nine Sororities' informationals and submit my information to all of them and be selected to one or more of them without ever attending any of those sororities' events or introducing myself to them. And I think we all know that DEFINITELY isn't how it works. And like showstopper_1908 said, at the point of informationals/rush, the members know pretty much who they're thinking of taking. It's just more of a formality.

Yeah, OK, DSTLove
*sighs* Typical scripted dogmatic rhetoric....

We don't take part of a Universities regular "Rush". We have an informational, tea, cat chat, whatever the organization decides to call it. If it is called a Rush, it is not the typical rush like you may be thinking of in a NPC or IFC organization. People who attend turn in the required materials and are contacted afterwards.

If im getting too personal please let me know and I'm very sorry, but what are the required materials?
