Apparently there's a "2.5 GPA standard". I'm not sure if that's for just being in Greek Life or the university has set a standard for all of the Fraternities and Sororities to uphold.
This is getting super stressful. Haha. I guess we'll see in 4 weeks...

I know that many universities will put the GPA requirements in their little Greek guidebook thing that they send out to everyone who registers. Mine did. I don't know if yours does. And a requirement is just that, a requirement. Not a suggestion or average. The national body of that sorority has said that chapters may not extend bids to women with GPAs lower than that.

Let me suggest something unorthodox: If, as you say, your grades were bad one semester due to illness BUT other semesters your grades were very good I would advise my daughter to do this on her application: Semester 1: 3.4, Semester 2: 1.2 (due to illness), Semester 3: 3.2 etc. This may help with some chapters that may have flexibility.

Good luck in your new school and with recruitment should you decide to go through.

I don't think anyone was being hostile, just letting you know that the fact you are a junior and that you have a low GPA is going to be 2 strikes against you. For some chapters it's an automatic cut-- you could be Kate Middleton and if your grades were that low, you'd be cut. For other chapters, they may have a lower standard. We don't know, but if it's a competitive school (and maybe even a not-so-competitive school) expect HEAVY cuts, probably in the first round. It is what it is. And if there is any hostility, it could be because it's been explained, and we can't change the rules for you, snowflake.
