I'm partial to concrete and rebar.
Post and Pier foundations suck (except if you live a quake zone and have dampers on them).

I noticed when I first met you that you have really lovely skin. Just thought I'd mention that although it sounds like a bad pickup line!

I don't usually wear foundation on a daily basis since I don't really need it, but when I go out at night I sometimes use it. The best stuff I've ever used is definitely Bare Minerals, some people love it, some hate it, my mom and I are both obsessed with it. If you learn how to apply it correctly it works awesome!

Ah, gee, thanks! My mother has beautiful skin - people have literally stopped her on the street to ask her what she uses! I just hope that it's genetic!

I've used Origins Silk Screen, which is a powder foundation, which you may or may not like. I personally prefer powder foundation over liquid.

Their stuff has natural ingredients in it which i looove, it's much better for you in the long run.

In terms of foundation you can get at the corner drugstore, I like Maybelline Wonder Finish. It gives a powder finish and makes my skin look how I wish it would look naturally. If you keep a powder compact ready for long days or evenings and if you're not smushed against a cell phone all the time, I have found zero problems with it. It even matched my skintone really well, which is amazing! It's an understatement to say I have fair skin, (I even had a student ask, "Miss UofISK...Why are you so white?") but I have lots of pink undertones, but not completely...it's a nightmare finding foundation that matches! I often have to buy two shades and custom blend. So, yes...Maybelline Wonder Finish.

guys often don't take care of their faces, including my DH! Guys can use the same facial products as women, they just need to figure out their skin type (oily, dry, combo, sensitive - may change with the weather (especially winter when heaters are on and dry out skin quickly) and with age).
Your best bet is to follow a simple routine. Get a good but not strong cleanser. Also purchase an exfoliating FACIAL scrub. They are not as scrubbing as the body exfoliators, but are more gentle on your skin. Exfoliate 2-3 times per week at first, then cut back as your face gets back to normal. Get a moisturizer and use morning and night; apply lightly. If you can, get a moisturizer with SPF in it to protect from sun damage.
I am fond of products from The Body Shop and found a couple in Kansas, although don't know if these are near you. If you have dry skin, get the Vitamin C (smells like fresh oranges) or Vitamin E (very light scent, moisturizer is lighter, so better for slightly oily skin) products. You can also order online ( www.thebodyshop.com)

If you want drug/grovery products, here were my favs before going to Body Shop:
Cleanser: must say i didn't really find a good all around cleanser. I do use the Clean & Clear Astringent for gentle skin (the regular stuff is terror on my face). It's blue and is pretty cheap. Technically, you are supposed to use astringents after you cleanse, but i don't always do this and just use the astringent. You can also use your body soap if it is not a real strong soap, like Dial or Ivory. If you use Caress or Dove or something like that, they are OK to use.
Exfoliator: Buff Puff Singles facial sponge with cleanser. It exfoliates and cleanses all at once, so great multi-use product. I used to get the "gentle" skin one, but hard to find now. The regular is good too, just don't scrub hard. It shouldn't hurt! Also, i have used the St. Ives Gentle Apricot Scrub, but it doesn't cleanse.
Moisturizer: I honestly liked Oil of Olay with the SPF. It was light and not very oily.
You can follow a similar routine for the rest of your body: cleanse, exfoliate & moisturize to keep your skin healthy and soft. Geez, i sound like a commercial! lol
For the foundation, i also like the ALmay Nearly Naked and I just bought some regular foundation from them that i like too.

This thread reminds me that after the holidays I need to take a trip to Kaufmann's during lunch break and head to the makeup counters. I have fairly pale skin (though I know people who are much paler!) and have a hard time color matching. I had Clinique's almost makeup before, but I didn't really like it, and it separated quite quickly on me.
So I guess I just need to pick out which makeup counter to go to and throw myself to their mercy, lol.

Dani - try going to Sephora instead. That way they'll pick what is best for you at the whole store, not just their counter.
I use Revlon New Complexion and it's great.

But that means going to Shadyside (ick at parking) or Monroeville (ick at the drive). Why oh why isn't there one in Robinson!????

kddani, I have very fair skin, too. Everytime I go to one of those makeup artists, they want me to wear the lightest shade, and I just don't look right with it. Finally, I asked my mother what shade she wears (she's as fair as I am), and she wears olive! Now, I don't go that dark, but in Estee Lauder, I wear light to medium (that's the shade color). I wore Clinique for years, and the Estee Lauder artist was nice enough to match the Clinique shade to the Estee Lauder shade for me!
Just a suggestion, one redhead to another!

Sorry about the double post, but Clinique makes a "real" foundation, too - it just doesn't do nice things to my skin! (BTW, Estee & Clinique are the same company).

Don't go to Monroeville, the one there is gone and replaced by a video game store (gag). The funny thing is I would rather stick hot needles through my eyes than drive out to Robinson.

Blah, can't believe they got rid of it.
I hate Robinson, too, but at least it's a close, hellish drive for me, instead of a more distant.
I'd also be quite happy if they put one in Ross Park or SHV or downtown.
