wow, i know the pressure
i went through rush at a university
and totally knew i was the wrong skin color to get a bid
but i knew that i was totally a sorority girl
because i would always end up be mistaken for a sorority chick at parties
anyway, i switched schools and one of my guy friends decided to rush
and he begged me to do it
i kept saying no until i finally decided to go ahead and do it

i don't exactly fit my sorority
but they are all so different
that somehow i manage to fit in with them

I say....

...go for it!!! Be the confident and cheerful and classy woman we have come to know on GC. Third time is a charm! Just one suggestion -- Try to get good strong recs for all the sororities at Truman now -- that will help.
Keep us posted!

Through the years as a collegian, I definitely saw repeat PNMs at rush (both structured and COB). The reaction depend on the girl. There are some that I couldn't believe were back and others that I thought "how has this girl not been pick up by another group yet?!?" One instance in particular, there was a girl who went throught Structured Recruitment and didn't get a bid. She then came to our COB and was not offered a bid, but she kept coming back. She was, at the time, a very quiet girl and it was extremely difficult to pull conversation out of her, which turned a lot of people off. But, she swayed us with her determination and, once bid and initiated, she became a very active member...one who was always willing to do something for a sister.

I'm also a "third time's the charm" member. I went to one sorority's informal recruitment the end of my freshman year, and was cut the first round. I was trying WAY too hard and in retrospect, was NOT a good fit. I went to another sorority's informal rrecruitment in the fall of my sophomore year. I REALLY thought I was a shoe-in, but it was not to be. I went thru Formal recruitment, and found my chapter....but I should say they found me. My roommate in freshman year pledged my chapter and I would NOT have ever thought of joining when she was going thru. I knew someone else who was pledging and my chapter was NOT my first choice at all. But they fell in love with me during recruitment and I ended up loving them.... We all find the place for us eventually, even if it takes a long time. I wouldn't have had it any other way...
