Hmmm, considering that you can claim your lottery winnings anonymously in Maryland, this does not pass the smell test. She has not contacted state lottery officials regarding her "winning ticket" yet, nor has she shown it to them. But no one else has come forward either.

at any rate, i have a serious case of the shoulda coulda wouldas. I've never played lottery in my life, but last week i was *thinking* about getting a ticket. I could have won it and saved these McDonald's people some drama.
What's funny is 2 people came up to me at work and asked me to join in the pool and I declined for the exact reason being stated in the article. In order to minimize the fighting over money, it's best to just play your own tix.

After seeing a clip of her on the news and looking at her facial expressions, I think she lied and is just a loony.

She does have an attorney now.

Yeah she's batshit crazy and just wanted attention. Beyond this story being crazy, her facial expressions and eye contact were off.

For her childrens' safety, I pray that she gets mental and emotional help.

So you just misplaced half a billion dollars? Oh ok. Sounds legit.

When someone steps forward with the real ticket she will claim they stole it from her.

She hid it at Mcdonalds but has misplaced it? How do you "forget" where you placed a ticket worth that much money? If it exists and you fear for your safety, why not have some cops escort you to McDonalds and get it out of the hiding place so you can cash in? Oh yeah...it's because she never had a winning ticket!

Some people have an interesting theory: Her lawyer has set up a corporation that will step forward to claim the prize shortly before the deadline. The winner can be anonymous, so no one will know exactly who it is, but they won't think it's her because she supposedly lost the ticket.

Since I'm guessing she didn't actually win, someone else's lawyer could be doing that. They better move fast though, in Maryland they only have until the end of September to claim. In Kansas the winner has two years and the Illinois winner has one. Also in Illinois the winner cannot be anonymous, but with a $100M windfall I wouldn't have hesitated to pay a lawyer a few million or even $10M to claim it for me, to remain anonymous.

I listened to the head of the MD lottery on NPR yesterday. He said it is not unusual for someone to not come forward by this point after winning. He recommended that the winner get all their ducks in a row before claiming the priza since an award of that size will be life changing.

it isn't sounding good for her:

http://www.cnn.com/2012/04/09/us/mar...ner/index.html

I feel like if it was her, the news would state it. She wouldn't have chosen anonymity.
