Halle is not the first AF-AM to win an Oscar. That distinction belongs to my Soror Hattie McDaniel [1895-1952], who won for Best Supporting Acress based on her role in Gone With the Wind. Soror McDaniels is currently on the Black Heritage Stamp.
Halle is the frst Af-Am to win for Best Actress in a Leading Role......And she needs a hug.
