Nope, you as a patient have the right to refuse medical care/services (emergency situations where you can not communicate are obviously excluded ).

All this to avoid a scar? Has she not heard of mederma? (a scar-healing kit that is sold in stores).

Angry I'm Tired of Seeing Stories Like This!

Baby Dies in Car Left at Fla. Racetrack

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - A 9-month-old girl died after she was left in a parked car at the racetrack where her father worked as a groom, police said.

The father, 27-year-Antonio Francisco Balta, was charged with aggravated manslaughter and jailed without bail Sunday, police said. It was unclear whether he had hired an attorney.

Rescue workers tried to resuscitate the girl Saturday at Gulfstream Park, but she died later at a hospital. Andrew Casper, a spokesman for Hallandale Beach police, could not say how long the child was left in the vehicle while temperatures rose into the upper 70s.

Gulfstream officials declined comment Sunday.

Boy Plays Dead to Survive Dad's Rampage
Tue Mar 16, 4:31 PM ET Add U.S. National - AP to My Yahoo!

ADELANTO, Calif. - A young boy survived his father's killing spree by playing dead after the man killed his wife and wounded the boy before shooting himself, authorities said.

Aaron Kinard was eating cookies and drinking milk when his father shot him and his mother Sunday. The boy, who turned 9 on Monday, remained motionless on the floor until his father shot and killed himself.

Aaron then rode his bicycle to a family friend's house.

"I saw some blood on his arm, and he told me his parents were both dead, that he saw his dad shoot his mom in the back and then shoot himself in the head," said Blanche Cuccia, one of the neighbors who helped the boy until paramedics and deputies arrived. "He was clearly in shock. It was like he was wanting to cry, but no tears were coming."

San Bernardino County sheriff's investigators said 83-year-old Oscar Lawrence apparently killed the boy's mother, 44-year-old Anita Kinard after an argument. **An 83 year old dad!?! Good Lawd!!**

"The boy was extremely smart. Once he heard the other gunshot and heard his dad fall, he took off running," Sgt. Mitch Dattilo said. "For a kid that age to keep his wits about him in a situation like that is incredible."

The boy was treated for a graze wound and placed in the custody of child-protective services. He may be turned over to an adult sibling who has expressed interest in caring for him, authorities said.

That was nothing but God. The boy may have been smart, but God took over in that situation. Thank goodness he is okay.

On the 83-year-old daddy, Viagra makes a lot of things possible.

Four Indicted in Near Fatal Beating of Girl

Mar 18, 2004 6:46 pm US/Eastern
The city State's Attorney has indicted three women and a 14 year-old girl on attempted murder charges in connection with the beating of a 12 year-old girl at a child's birthday party in West Baltimore. Nicole Townes was in a coma after the February 28-th attack. She has since come out of it and is improving, but remains hospitalized at Johns Hopkins. Police say Townes was beaten repeatedly because a boy kissed her on a dare. Police say the 14 year-old is the girlfriend of the boy who kissed Nicole. The women and the girl are all in police custody, but bail has only been set for one of them.

On another MB, one of the adult women is reported to weigh 300 pounds.

Talking God is a Healer!!!

MIAMI - Doctors said Thursday they transplanted eight organs into an Italian baby, who is in good condition six weeks after the operation.

Alessia Di Matteo, who is now 7½ months old, received a new liver, stomach, pancreas, small intestine, large intestine, spleen and two kidneys during a 12-hour operation on Jan. 31.
Doctors at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Medical Center said the surgery was the world’s first eight-organ transplant. Joel Newman, spokesman for United Network for Organ Sharing, cautioned that it was difficult to confirm that the hospital had set a record because other facilities record the stomach and intestine as one organ.
Alessia, of Genoa, Italy, was born with congenital smooth muscle disorder, which prevented normal function of her stomach, intestines and kidneys. The condition is fatal if left untreated.
“In order to treat the child, one must replace all of these abdominal organs,” said Dr. Andreas Tzakis, the lead surgeon.
The child now weighs about 13 pounds and is fed through a tube, but is out of intensive care, Tzakis said. She is expected to remain in Miami several more weeks for observation.
The hospital has performed several seven-organ transplants, Tzakis said. One of them was on another baby Italian girl, Eugenia Borgo, in 1997. The girl is now in grade school and healthy, Tzakis said.
“When the patients survive and do well, they do very well,” he said.

Baby Locked in Safe Used As a Nursery
Wed Mar 31, 9:54 AM ET Add Strange News - AP to My Yahoo!

KEARNEY, Neb. - A 14-month-old boy spent about an hour locked in an enormous safe that his parents had converted into his nursery.

"It seemed like five hours," said the boy's mother Elizabeth Bond. "I was panicked."

She said her son, CeJay, was crying on the other side of the door.

Dustin and Elizabeth Bond moved their family into the house two months ago. The house, about five miles east of Kearney, was formerly a business.

The Bonds said when they bought the house, they were told the safe's lock was disabled.

Hold up! The safe was converted to a nursery? Then why was Ms. Bond so surprised that the baby was in there? Seems like if it was converted into a nursery in the first place, the Bonds planned on making a deposit sooner or later. Why would you put your child in a safe even if it didn't lock? Why should she be mad at the previous owners when they weren't thinking the idiots would use the darn thing as a room?

Am I reading this wrong?

I dunno... I read the original article and it said that the 'safe' was an 8'x10' space (bigger than my bedroom growing up!) and had ventilation ... so I can see why they'd use it as a bedroom, especially if the lock was promised to be removed/inoperable.

Still, must have been a 'duh' moment for the parents.

Ok this lady has to be crazy...or the doctors at the other hospital earned there medical degrees from Bozo's clown college because you don't cut someone from "brest bone to pubic bone" for a C-section.

I've seen my mum's C-section scar and it's not that bad.

Crazy lady... even if she's not guilty of a criminal act she should be monitored because she's obviously not stable enough to be taking care of children.
