I imagine many houses were very picky in the bids they gave out in the first round, probably only giving them out to women who were already friends of in-house sisters and such. Given that the bidding period continues for a few more weeks, my guess is that houses will reach out to PNMs they are interested in getting to know better and will give out bids more gradually. I wouldn't worry about not getting a call that first night if all you had was a small window in which to visit each and every participating house!

That's how COB works. It is continuous open recruitment, so the chapters can give the woman a bid without going through several rounds of interviews.

Hi, I've read through this thread and seen that is has been very helpful in past years so I'm hoping some of you can provide some information on spring rush 2015 at UF. I'm wondering when it will be, what houses will be participating, how many new members they'll take, and my chances of getting a bid. Any information will be helpful, thanks!!

Not all groups will be participating. Only those who are below total will be and so the number will vary from group to group. Your Greek Life office can help you. Have you called them or checked their web site?

Well, there will be few spots available. Call the Greek Life office and talk with them.

Call or drop by the Greek life office before you go home. At the least they can tell you when the information about spring rush will be posted on their site, and the procedure to sign up to participate. In the past the info has been posted on the GL website after the beginning of spring semester. An information session is held where the Panhellenic officers and sorority presidents give a presentation and after the presentation some sorority members are available to meet and greet. Do you have recommendations? You need them.

In the past, spring recruitment has been held over MLK Weekend. If that is true this year, it would be somewhere around January 19th. UF is a school where you need recommendations, as FSU Zeta has said. As Gamma Phi Beta is colonizing in the fall, I would not be surprised to see that they have some sort of presence at spring recruitment. There are a few houses so there may not be a lot of choices but they are all wonderful houses that offer amazing opportunities.

So they won't announce which sororities are participating until the information session?

I don't know that they "announce" at all. It's usually just a few groups looking for a few people. There is nothing organized with all groups like fall recruitment, if that is what you are thinking. So the Greek Life office is your best bet as they know who is or will be below total and able to have spring open recruitment. It's more of a one on one type situation.

Why did I post this?
Because the PR for our PC this Spring Recruitment has been a fail and I've seen a lot of girls who were released from our Fall mention wanting to do it. I'm not trying to spoon feed or force feed anyone, I just know that some girls may be curious. The link about it is basically THIS BIG on the PC website and that's it - and I don't think that's enough.... Sorry if it comes off odd to you. I'm also disaffiliated as a member of Panhellenic, so I am not force/spoon feeding for my chapter either.

There's nothing you can do, except try to relax and wait.

Remember when UGa did a semi-formal spring rush about 3 years ago? I wonder how they managed this situation. To my knowledge, they never did one like that again.

I do remember that.
But didn't they have more structure?
I thought there were rounds, like a partially structured recruitment, with invites being given out every night and bids going out via PHC?
Or was it the same kind of thing and my memory is bad?
