I'm thinking of getting these this weekend, since you know, I wear orthopedic shoes and all.

Instead of starting a whole new thread about this, i though i'd come to this thread and get y'alls opinions.....
I bought this dress for one of our events coming up, but I don't know what kind of shoe would go good with it. I'm 5'3-ish, and i'm a tad clumsy so I don't know if high heels would be THAT good...although i am a fan. I would really prefer a closed-toe shoe, but i'm open to pretty much anything. I would like to wear a little black sash or ribbon around the waist area, just to bring in contrast, so...yeah.
Any suggestions?
Oh yeah and I forgot to mention that I am on a budget

No, not at all. Sometimes the simplest shoes are the most expensive because the maker can sell them all the time. Whenever I try to find simple black slingbacks, it's impossible because the least expensive ones have ugly super-trendy details.
Whenever I go to Saks, I drool over the MBs because they are very well-made. It's hard for me to justify them, however, when I have to dress for visits to a construction site 85% of the time.
amycat, you are my HERO. But, I'm sure you already knew that.

This color matches with your dress. Not to mention it's only $28.99
http://www1.macys.com/catalog/produc...Type=EverGreen
This is a semi closed one I could find that would also look stunning with your dress.
http://www1.macys.com/catalog/produc...Type=EverGreen
Now, if you want to look stunning, but not too over the board, you could try this as well (just a suggestion)
Lace Satin Pull Through Belt -
Regularly $58.00 - Now $19.99 (I prefer the black one)
http://www.ardenb.com/shop/detail.as...sub_id=0&page=
Hoops W/ Charms & Chain Fringe -
Regularly $24.00 - Now $16.80
http://www.ardenb.com/shop/detail.as...id=25&sub_id=0
And this would probably do the trick:

Though I personally prefer the first pair with that combination, you don't even need a nicklace since the earrings stand out. Maybe a small necklace would be ok, but if you're looking for those big bead ones, then don't use the earrings

Only because I think having red shoes might be a little much---of course i'm not good with this whole matchy/matchy stuff, so i wouldn't really know.

I was thinking about black shoes too...hard to match, but not impossible. Depends what kind of accessories you match at the top. One good thing is that the red is not too bright. I gotta go for a quick dinner, so I'll be right back and see what I could find. Besides black, do you have some other colors that you would like too macth?
man...I having too much fun with clothes

ok, after giving some thought, here's what I've come up with:
the black shoes could work with your dress, but you just have to make sure it doesn't become the focus of your outfit, so you have to make sure there's enough black items on top to balance. Since you're about my height, this necklace wouldn't be too much for you. The ribbon at the end compliments the bow tie for the pair of shoes that you like. Double strands also adds a little more touch to your outfit than single strand:
Forever 21 necklace ($6.80): http://www.forever21.com/product.asp...2695963&Page=6
The belt could be a little plain, since the necklace and shoes are fancy enough. You don't want to overpower it:
Forever 21 belt ($6.80): http://www.forever21.com/product.asp...0033790&Page=1
You may have to go a little thinner than the 3.5" wide belt that they have. Then with a pair of simple stud earrings (or something that's not too long, roughly half an inch or an inch long, black earrings) a simple black beaded bracelet and a small black satin clutch will do the trick
And just see those pairs of pumps a good investment.
----------------------
Edit:
I found a pair even cheaper, $19.99

I got the shoes in the mail the other day and I'm wearing them today! I've already received a couple compliments on them too.....which is reassuring. I've never spent this much on shoes so I needed to feel like they are worth it! Btw, for as high as they are they are very comfortable!

I am so jealous! I want the same exact pair someday, they're just so classic and beautiful. How high are the heels and have your toes started to hurt at all from the pointed toe? I find that happens to me sometimes, but I guess it's usually after wearing pointed toe heels for a long day and night of drinking, so nevermind.

I think they're 4 inches high. I ended up getting one size larger than I thought because evidently the shoes run narrow and smaller than many other brands. My feet aren't very narrow, but not super wide either. So I think that getting them one size up helps with the pointy toe pain. I've been wearing them all day and they don't hurt at all. I do use these toe cover things that I bought at Nordstrom in the hosiery department. I think that prevents the pointy-ness from hurting at all. I love them.
