:: Patty Jackson's 411 for the week of May 2nd, 2005:
Bobby Brown's reality TV show, Being Bobby Brown, will finally see the light of day. Bobby's reality show kicks off June 30th on the Bravo Network. The show will feature the Browns, Whitney and Bobby, as they travel thru Miami, New York, Boston, Los Angeles, London, and The Bahamas. I wonder if Whitney will have a hand in promoting this show? Is she well enough? Will she be finished with her second stage of re-hab? What about Bobby? What's up with his mouth? Did you check out the VH-1 Behind The Music special? Bobby's mouth was strange. The VH-1 special was good, but where was Ronnie DeVoe? Do you think this reality show will help or hurt The Browns? Email me. Let's talk about it at

What's up with Oprah and Stedman? What's up with Oprah and Dr. Phil? Are they fighting? Stedman is scheduled to appear on Oprah's show this month. Could this be a ratings stunt? Is he appearing on the show to prove that they are still together in some kind of way? What about the rumors of a secret daughter?!! As for Dr. Phil, word has it he wants to break free from Oprah's control. She is the executive producer of his hit TV talk show, which means she controls the show. She can nix any show she doesn't like, and he is not allowed to compete against her. Dr. Phil is tired, and he wants to cut the cord. Oprah made him a star, but his aggressive attitude is wearing her out. Will Oprah let him go? I doubt it. Maybe she will do it in a few years when she retires, but she is nobody's fool. Why let him get away so he can compete against her? She has built an amazing empire, and she will not let Dr. Phil or anyone else destroy it.
Is Debbie Rowe still is love with the King of Pop? Last week, during court testimony in the Michael Jackson child molestation trial, Rowe took the stand and testified that Michael was surrounded by vultures who were trying to profit from his troubles.
She turned out to be a bust for the prosecution because she refused to say anything bad about her former husband. As she testified, Michael dabbed tears from his eyes. Rowe is currently involved in a nasty custody fight with her ex-husband Michael. She had two children for him. But when she gave a TV interview he didn't approve of, he cut off her money and refused to let her see the kids, a boy and a girl who are now 7 & 8. Rowe wants her children back, but she sold them to Michael as a gift. When she was married to him, they never lived together. Why is she so devoted to him? She has no money, and she can't see her kids. Maybe she thinks if she gets back on his good side, she can resume getting money and have a chance at seeing her kids. They probably don't know who she is!
In other Jackson news, LaToya won't have to worry about her ex-husband because he's dead! LaToya's ex-husband and former Manager Jack Gordon died a few weeks ago from cancer. He was 66 years old. When Gordon was alive, he was the Jackson family's worst nightmare. He brainwashed and married LaToya, and made her life a living hell. He pimped her. Gordon had her doing everything from posing nude with snakes to advertising psychic hotlines. She made a lot damaging allegations against her family. When she broke free from Gordon's control, she revealed that he made her say many of those things. She also claimed he beat her to make her do things. When the news of his death came, LaToya didn't believe it because she thought it was just another one of his hoaxes. She lived in fear of this man, and she was afraid he would come back to haunt her.
Will and Jada Pinkett Smith will be hosting this year's BET Awards. The show airs on the cable channel June 28th. Gladys Knight will be getting a lifetime achievement award, and Denzel Washington and his wife Pauletta will be getting a Humanitarian award. Speaking of Denzel, I got a chance to get to New York and see him in the Broadway production of "Julius Caesar" playing Brutus. After the play, we got to take pictures together and talk. Denzel got a big laugh out my reminding him about dedicating songs to him when he was filming here in Philly.
Basketball Star Kobe Bryant is looking to change his image. He recently renewed his vows to his wife Vanessa. During their four-year marriage, she stood by her man when he revealed he had cheated on her with a woman who later claimed it was rape. The Lakers, who are sitting home watching the playoffs, need a new head coach. Kobe is looking to mend fences with former Coach Phil Jackson. Jackson left the Lakers after he had enough of Kobe and his antics. He even wrote about it a book. Their differences led Jackson to a shrink. Could the two ever work together again? Will Kobe set his ego aside and let someone coach him? Jackson is a wanted man in the NBA, and the New York Knicks are very interested in him. Will Jackson try to go back home again with the Lakers, or, will he coach the Knicks, a team he spent almost ten years with as a player? As for Kobe, he may pop up on the TNT network as an analyst during the playoffs.
Comedian D.L. Hughley is getting his own weekend late night talk show on The Comedy Central Network. "Weekends at the DL" will be a half-hour talk show that will air Friday thru Sunday. D.L. is coming to town this month. He'll at Tower Theatre on the 28th as part of The Spring Comedy Spectacular.
Patti Labelle will be out and about promoting her new CD of duets. The CD, Labelle of the Ball, features Patti with Mary J. Blige, Elton John and a host of others doing classics. Patti be performing on Good Morning America on July 1st, and she will be teaming up with Elton John for a big Fourth of July concert at the Parkway on The Art Museum steps.
Singer Faith Evans graces the cover of the new issue of Vibe magazine. She looks good. In a very candid interview, she talks about her weight, marriage, Biggie and the past. Faith has a new CD, The First Lady, and she is down to a size four. She claims it was her husband who got her in shape, telling her she had to get it together in order to compete. The mother of three reveals how she handles a busy career while raising a family. She talks about Biggie and Tupac. She says she never had an affair with Tupac. She says she and Lil' Kim may have fell in love with the same man, but she says she was the one who didn't have to wear dark sunglasses (rumor has it Biggie would beat Kim). She also talked about giving up control of Biggie's fortune to his mom. She says if she had to do it again, she would not have been that generous. It was a great article and a fascinating look inside her life. The new issue of Vibe is on newsstands now.
Usher will grace the cover of the new Essence magazine as they celebrate June, which is Black Music Month.
Stevie Wonder's long awaited album, A Time for Love, has been postponed for a third time! It's been ten years since he has released a new album. There's no word on when the project will finally be released.
Are actresses Lisa Bonet and Cree Summer more than friends?!! Lisa and Cree both starred on the TV show, A Different World. Lisa played Denise and Cree played Freddie. Lisa used to be married to Rocker Lenny Kravitz, and they have a 16 year-old daughter. Lisa and Cree have been friends for years, but according to published reports recent photos of the two reveal much more. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Cree is a well-know voiceover artist and she has done work for film, TV shows and video games.
You guys like Paula Abdul! Last week we took a poll on what you thought of the latest scandal involving Paula and American Idol male contestants. Many thought Corey Clark, her accuser, is just trying to sell a book. In other Idol news, The Philly Sound is coming to the hit TV show. This month, look for Idol contestants to perform classic Gamble & Huff, Sound of Philly songs.
Kelly Rowland in the nude! Yes! The Destiny's Child star will be featured in the Naked Issue of Allure magazine. The photos are tastefully done.
Keith Sweat has a new album coming out in July called, Grown and Sexy.
Get ready for another "Friday" movie. This one, called "Saturday," will feature Ice Cube, Chris Tucker, Nia Long, Regina King, Bernie Mac and AJ Johnson.
At the movies this week, it's 'Crash' with Larenz Tate, Don Cheadle, Ludacris, Terrence Howard, Thandie Newton, Sandra Bullock and Matt Dillion.
