Well, I'm actually very involved in the wiki movement and have done a lot of thinking and writing about the theory of wikis and their use in academia. I've created guides to teaching with wikipedia before, for example. I can't say that I've made some kind of statistical survey of academics' opinions of wikipedia. But I doubt you have either, and thus your opinions are also based on the people and things you have been exposed to. Unless you've researched this or read studies about it. If you have I would be very interested in reading what you have on it because I'm really fascinated by wikipedia & academia. But I think I still stand by what I said earlier, which was:

Most of the people in academia who are anti-wikipedia are either extremely elitist or doubtful that average people can use their brains to figure out whether the article is reliable or not.

Note I said anti-wikipedia. I guess to clarify I meant people that campaign against it, rant against, etc. There are plenty of people in academia who are indifferent to wikipedia and mostly just disdain that their students ever dare to read it. I'm not really talking about them.

Granted, I realize I do make a lot of polemical statements.

I'm not actually expecting you to stop, I'm just amused that you leap from one comment to "OMG STALKER."

There's no reason for a moderator to get involved. Many people have expressed amusement or frustration with your link-bot posts. This will probably continue to happen as long as you continue to do it but I don't see anyone in a hurry to change the status quo.
