Doesn't Texas play Syracuse first? If 'cuse plays like they did against OU the whorns don't stand a chance.

I'll tell ya what, i can root for any team in the Big XII except for the whorns and ITTech. Call it bad blood or whatever, but my experiences with individuals from both of those schools, has for the majority been bad. tu likes to point to the fact that they own our all-time vs. record, but what they won't admit is that from 1876 until the 1960's A&M was an all-male military school. Pretty dang hard to recruit NFL talent if they had to be in the Corps of Cadets while playing. I'm not saying that those games don't count, but that's about as impressive as saying that they own the Citadel. (NOTE: I LOVE the Citadel, my godfather wanted me there, but they are not a D1 powerhouse)
As far as being the media darlings, that's what we in Aggieland call the BOMC (Burnt Orange Media Conspiracy)
C'mon KU!! Rock, Chalk, Jayhawk (seriously, i need someone from KU to tell me what that means!)

Or the last 3 that the "#1 offense and #2 defense in the US" were owned by OU? 64-13(may favorite), 14-3 or 35-24?
I was at the last 2 and WISH I had been at the first one..
Some whornfans came down to cheer in the OU section and talk isht in the first half... they were gone by the second half
I'm a little worried about this year's game because OU doesn't have Chrissy Simms playing for us.
(what's up thread hijack?)

here is the meaning.....--from www.rockchalk.com
The Rock Chalk Chant is perhaps the most distinctive cheer in all of college sports. Some have likened it to a Gregorian chant, but anyone who has been in Allen Fieldhouse and heard the chant start low, then build and roll over the crowd knows that it is much, much more.
The "Rock Chalk" chant dates to 1866, when it was adopted by the University Science Club. A chemistry professor, E.H.S. Bailey and some of his associates were returning to Lawrence from Wichita on a train. As the story goes, they passed the time by trying to create a rousing cheer. The sound of the train's wheels on the rails suggested a rhythm and a cadence to them. At first, the cheer was "Rah, Rah, Jayhawk, KU" repeated three times.
Even though KU didn't have a football team until four years later, KU students quickly took up the chant. Later, an English professor suggested "Rock Chalk," in place of "Rah, Rah" because it rhymed with Jayhawk and because it was symbolic of the limestone, also known as chalk rock, surrounding Mount Oread, the site of the Lawrence Campus. It became the official cheer of the University in 1897.
Teddy Roosevelt pronounced the Rock Chalk Chant the greatest college chant he'd ever heard. It was used by Kansas troops fighting in the Philippines in 1899, the Boxer Rebellion in China, and World War II. At the Olympic games in 1920, the King of Belgium asked for a typical American college yell. The assembled athletes agreed on KU's Rock Chalk and rendered it for His Majesty.
The words to the chant are simple. "Rock Chalk, Jayhawk, KU" repeated five times. The chant is special not because of the words, but because of the tone in which it is chanted and the distinctive cadence in which each verse is delivered. The only way to really appreciate the chant is to sit in Allen Fieldhouse before a Missouri game.
---hope that answers all your questions!!!!

WHOOP!!!
Thanks wendi for the explanation!!
It's traditions like this, as well as the Fightin Texas Aggie 12th man, the Sooner Schooner, Ralphie the Buffalo, the Blackshirts, OU-tu weekend, etc. that make the Big XII unrivaled as the best conference in the nation!!!
Back to basketball, go KU!

Almost a repeat of last year! 1/2 the *best* conference in the NCAA made it to the Final 4. But this time Kansas went on! Good to see.. Not only did they go on, they kicked ass! Play like that and the Orangemen don't stand a chance..
As for 'cuse... it always warms my heart when the whorns lose. Thanks for that!

Marquette is in the Conference USA. Syracuse is in the Big East. Only Kansas and Texas are in the Big XII.
